@BenKuchera @aegies And in Filoni/Favreau et al, they are people who are super nerdy Star Wars fans, so their shows are a love letter to what they've loved about Star Wars, rather than whatever the movies are.

Imagine being so invested in a console that you have to resort to BS like this. WTF. Someone needs to not only get a grip on life, but on reality as well. Consoles are just consoles, get over it, have fun, let others enjoy what they want to enjoy.

Something similar I've seen people say RE Ghostbusters and Halo is the "I feel like I'm 12 again" line, and I've just never understood the urge for media to make me feel that. Like, is being grown-up that bad?

@Melnychuk86 Also, I never understood why you'd want to trade off an interactive (and almost always better) experience for a flat linear one that you just watch. See Assassin's Creed, and why there should never be a GTA movie.

I think the prospect of movie adaptations of games was more exciting when they were more abstract. Now that graphics and actors' performances are so lifelike, a movie adaptation feels redundant.

@Melnychuk86 It's a dense read for sure, with a ton of world-building. I thought the 2000 miniseries did a decent job, so more time is the key, but imagine a 10-12 episode prestige series, with time to let everything flow? It could have been the next Game of Thrones.

@GamerPops Yeah I can see that argument. I've read that apparently even split into two movies, this one glosses over or omits a lot of stuff.

If Warner Bros. says they're disappointed with Dune's box office they only have themselves to blame. You gave people the option to watch it at home...

@GamerPops but they will never believe you when you explain it to them. But I can see instances where they think this, with influencers getting a shit-ton of free products to just show on their social channels. I am not talking about trinkets, but the big stuff.

Yep, this is pretty accurate. Being called fanboy/fangirl, hack, sell-out, etc....face all that and more when you write reviews, previews, news, etc.

@Melnychuk86 Also, most of the time, Spiderman wears a mask, and between movies and comics, we've seen 54,169 different masks, so as long as it looks close enough, we're good.

@GamerPops And yet for some reason the recent Spider-Man game didn't bother me lol. Maybe it's because I've already seen a few different actors play Peter Parker over time.

I don't think game companies understand that putting out an Avengers or Guardians game where the characters don't look like the actors in the films would be like making a Star Wars game where Han Solo had a different face.
