I'm not sure why people look at 13F filings so deeply when all the hedge funds are super behind on names like $JBL, $LITE and others. The most returns come from frontrunning institutions before they figure out the next $SNDK. Not following them 3 months after they file.

New research suggests that compounds found in traditional kimchi may help the body remove harmful nanoplastics before they spread through the bloodstream. Scientists at the World Institute of Kimchi have been studying a probiotic strain called Leuconostoc mesenteroides CBA3656, a naturally occurring lactic acid bacterium present in fermented kimchi. According to their findings, the microbe appears to act like a biological filter inside the digestive system, attaching itself to tiny polystyrene nanoplastics and limiting their ability to pass through the intestinal wall. In laboratory and simulated gut studies, the probiotic significantly increased the excretion of nanoplastics through waste, reducing the likelihood that these microscopic particles could accumulate in organs and tissues. Researchers believe the bacteria essentially trap the particles inside the gut, helping the body eliminate them more efficiently. To preserve these live cultures, specialists say raw and unpasteurized kimchi may offer the greatest potential benefit, since heat processing can destroy active bacteria. Small daily servings paired with fiber-rich foods may also help support the gut’s natural cleansing processes. Although the early results are encouraging, scientists emphasize that the research is still in a pre-clinical stage. More human studies are needed to determine whether these probiotic “microplastic binders” work as effectively in real human digestive systems as they do in controlled experimental models. Source: World Institute of Kimchi Research reports on Leuconostoc mesenteroides CBA3656 and nanoplastic excretion.

BREAKING: The US Treasury budget surplus fell -$43 billion YoY in April, or -17%, to $215 billion. April typically produces a budget surplus, as the mid-month tax filing deadline brings in a large wave of receipts from individuals and businesses. This comes as receipts fell -$13 billion YoY, to $837 billion. At the same time, outlays rose +$31 billion YoY, to $622 billion, led by higher interest costs and military spending. Gross interest jumped +$10 billion YoY, to $112 billion, the highest monthly reading on record, while military spending jumped +$6 billion YoY, to $73 billion. Despite April’s surplus, the US government has recorded a deficit of $954 billion over the first 7 months of FY2026, the 3rd-highest in history. Deficit spending is extremely high.

$IONQ is a top 5 position in my growth portfolio but context really matters because I built a 11% position when the stock at ~$6. Quantum is still very early and I don’t think anyone should pretend it is going to have its “ChatGPT moment” anytime soon since large-scale commercial quantum advantage is still years away and timeline could easily take longer than the market wants. That said I’m willing to underwrite the volatility because I view quantum more as a national security theme because the first major customers will likely be governments, defense agencies, national labs, pharma companies & energy companies due to the implications for encryption, navigation, timing, sensing & secure communications. That said, I have a lot of cushion here, and I’m still willing to underwrite the volatility because I think the first major quantum customers will be governments, defense agencies, national labs, pharma companies and energy companies. If quantum becomes important then the category should be big enough for specialized leaders to matter and I think IonQ has a real shot at being the pure-play category leader.
