@Micha8351 @suchafishyway There is a suggestion the organisers thought Israel had won and had set up the staging for them and couldn’t change it back. No idea how true that is though

@ElectionMapsUK Slightly confused. No indication of other candidate from previous election, yet 2 new candidates (47.8% of vote) but other 2 only down by 15.4%. Is this massive difference because of a much higher turnout? Apologies if I missed something.

@TheStingisBack Never knew about the other career but Tremors is one of the all time classic cult films. It shouldn’t be as good as it is with the storyline, yet everyone excels at getting the most out of the contents. The sequels were never as good, in my opinion but the og remains brilliant!

Happy Birthday, Reba McEntire. When the “Queen of Country” made her acting debut, she dove headfirst into 90s comedy/horror creature classic Tremors. Casting glamorous Reba as a hard-core survivalist, blasting the crap out of a giant worm with an elephant gun, was inspired.

@TheStingisBack Jeremy Brett. Head and shoulders above those I have seen. Basil Rathbone was the first I saw, so holds a special place for me. Doesn’t mean the others were bad, just JB was that good.

Sherlock Holmes is the most portrayed literary human character across film, TV, stage and radio. It’s estimated that over 100 actors (including animated versions) have worn his famous deerstalker. Who’s your favourite actor to play The World’s Greatest Detective?

6 months ago Suella was a “traitor” and “treacherous”. Today she’s a saint. How can you trust *anything* these people say? They might change their mind in 6 months 🤷🏻‍♂️
Zia Yusuf@ZiaYusufUK

The ‘Online Safety Act’ plunges Britain into an authoritarian surveillance state. It was a product of the Tories. Robert Jenrick and Suella Braverman voted for it, so presumably there’s another super-secret reason they had to inflict this treachery on us all too? 🤷‍♂️

@TheStingisBack Loved the John Barry soundtrack, family forced up of it as it was on the car so often. This is where my love for soundtracks developed, that and Star Wars. Watched the film recently and still enjoyed it!

The Black Hole (1979) shows the ambitious filmmaking Disney once mastered—drawing inspiration from popular 1970s disaster movies, and Jules Verne. It features a strong cast, memorable characters, an amazing John Barry score, and a darker tone for older kids. Not just another live-action remake.

@TheStingisBack The real question is if you looked at the alternative options to see if you had made the right choice and wish you had chosen different, say you would do different next time and then forget and repeat the same option!!!

@gaghyogi49 I found it highly interesting, hadn't consciously noticed until it was pointed out how they used the window. Subconsciously it obviously worked and now wondering whatelse they used to convey message/tone that I accepted without thinking! Ignore the rude people, makes life better

This weekend, I have been accused of pedantery, have been told to get a life and to touch the grass, so maybe it's time to explain (again) what started me on all that ready room window research: So, when I went through the ready room scenes in all of TNG, looking for (unrelated) changes to the set, I noticed how the directors and cinematographers used the window to show Picard's state of mind. Whenever he has to make a tough decision, he looks out the window. There were also episodes in which the reflections in the window, usually of people Picard is talking to, where effectively and creatively used. Then there are all the scenes in which warp streaks were added into the window in post production. Sometimes, these warp streaks were changed for the remastering of TNG, to correct mistakes concerning the angles of the streaks and the reflections in the ready room table. That is why I decided to focus on these details, all from a production point of view, to highlight the work of the directors, cinematographers and FX artists. Along the way, I discovered some bloopers (a bluescreen visible in one episode, for example) and other small details, like the change of the window frame for "Generations". My point of view is always the production perspective, not the in-universe explanations that can easily be found. In universe: who cares whether there are 14 or 15 rectangles between the window frame chevrons. From a production point-of-view, however, this means the set was modified and that is interesting. I ask myself, why a set or prop was created in a certain way and then was modified when its limitations became apparent or the director wanted to try something different. I like having a small daily Star Trek research project that doesn't take long and that I can do, even after a long day of work. Just 10 minutes of looking at one room in one episode, taking a screenshot and writing about it. I find this kind of research distracting and relaxing. It brings me joy. Of course, once I've reached the end of a season or a show, I take a look again at everything I have learned over the course of a few months and try to put together the puzzle pieces to look at the larger picture. How and why was a set modified over the course of several years, why were some practices (adding warp streaks in post) dropped and how prevalent were certain camera angles or shots. Again, I do this because I like doing this and sharing my findings. It brings me joy. That is pretty much enough and I'm sorry you were not fully prepared for this level of thoroughness! #IDIC 🖖

@TrekCulture Still enjoying the season. Really enjoyed ep6, but think season affected by writers strike. Gorn wrapped up to quickly, padding with romantic storylines, obvious use of previous Trek plotlines, putting in inappropriate quips to have a funny character. More than previous 2 I think

@TrekCulture @ELittlechild The hints were there in wedding bell blues episode, suspected this ending was coming and disliked it the moment it happened. Actually liked the episode apart from that, even if it was cobbled together from many other ST episode's. But that ending makes this my least favourite ep
