Many people won’t like this but he’s right. Assist stats are nonsense. You’re judging player A, the passer, based on what player B, the finisher, does. Two players can create the exact same chances, but only the one with a clinical striker gets the assists. That’s why goals will always be superior. You can score a goal without an assist, but you can’t assist without someone scoring it.
