The Israel war killed the heterodox moment on identity politics. So many who argued for humanistic values and against identitarian tribalism -- affirmative action, insane ideas around equity, and racial balkanization of American society -- are suddenly in support of a country that is based on racial supremacy when it comes to Jewish ethnicity, which is actively ethnically cleansing its minority population? None of them bother defending it intellectually. The only defense is a distraction -- pointing out teenage enemies on university campuses or posting fake news about murdered babies. They once denounced victim ideology, but now they embrace it, always posturing as the victim to excuse the indefensible. Now, they embrace canceling opponents and censoring political speech when it comes to anything about Palestinian human rights. The idea that we need a separate space or a separate country for an identity group was whacky when it came from Ibram Kendi, but sound when it comes from Alan Dershowitz?
