@julierussell38 @chatswithem @metoffice If the treatments actually worked, they’d be welcomed by the NHS, as some of them are pretty cheap. They are not, because they don’t. I’d something cannot be shown to be working in a clinical trial, then it is just a ln expensive placebo.

Today has been the hottest day in May on record with Kew Gardens provisionally reaching 34.8°C - exceeding the previous highest May temperature in the UK by a full 2 degrees Celsius🌡️ This heat would be exceptional in the UK even in mid summer, let alone in May📈

Of course it's those two places both in Urban Heat Islands. Kew Gardens ... It’s a perfect microclimate storm Surrounded by the city's concrete, the incoming air is already pre-heated. Low & Sheltered: Sitting just 6m above sea level in West London traps hot air masses. Sandy Soil: Its dry, sandy ground heats up rapidly instead of holding cooling moisture. Natural Windbreaks: Mature park trees block the wind, keeping the baked air stagnant As for Heathrow there was a brilliant article written in 2021...

@julierussell38 @chatswithem @metoffice Defending people who are killing peopel for profit by promoting nonsense protocols is pretty dim. Do you profit from promoting this nonsense or actually making a fool of yourself for free? For reference I make nothing at all from any medical/pharma company. I just dislike liars

@ClimateRealists You haven’t been to Kenley have you? Behold the concrete jungle it is is… oh… I have been there, it has a very small runway used only by gliders and is surrounded by grass. The weather station is amazingly not on or particularly near the runway.

For the second night in a row, we now have two successive occasions whereby two minimum records have been broken.. it doesn’t take an Einstein to recognise the location is not suitable for recording such data.. does it
Met Office@metoffice

We have provisionally broken the UK record for highest daily minimum temperature in May... again 😮 Temperatures didn't fall below 21.3°C overnight at Kenley Airfield, making it a 'tropical night' (no lower than 20°C). Remarkably, the record was also broken yesterday.

Feels strange to be launching the all-important Makerfield by-election without a huge live event, press conference and media circus. But needs must - I can't risk anyone asking me a question about my £5 million gift or how I paid for my houses.

2.24 kWh of battery storage being offered by German big box store. 🌞🔋 Typically 2 kWh battery capacity (solar generator) would retail at twice this. This Lidl system can supply max power (800W) for 3 hours. Longer with reduced power demands. Note: quality meets EU standards.
Dave Jones@CleanPowerDave

Balcony solar was already super cheap.. ..NOW battery prices for balcony solar have collapsed. This one works to $145/KWh. That's almost the same price as grid battery🤯 Yes, it's a one-time offer, yes it's a pretty dumb battery, but wow...

This is the moment a Russian jet cut in front of an RAF plane in a “dangerous” manoeuvre, sparking outrage.
Tom Cotterill@TomCotterillX

🚨BREAKING🚨 Russian fighter jets repeatedly intercepted a British surveillance plane over the Black Sea during a series of “dangerous” flybys.   A series of aggressive actions last month, revealed today, saw one Russian Su-35 warplane fly close enough to trigger emergency systems on the RAF Rivet Joint aircraft, including disabling the autopilot system. In another dangerous intercept, a Russian Su-27 aircraft conducted six passes in front of the British aircraft, flying within 20ft of the Rivet Joint’s nose. The jets were travelling at speeds of about 500mph. Video footage, released by the Ministry of Defence on Wednesday evening, showed one of the Russian jets - armed with air-to-air missiles - cutting directly in front of the RAF plane. The Rivet Joint aircraft was carrying out a routine flight in international airspace over the Black Sea and was unarmed, which is part of the UK’s work alongside allies to secure Nato’s Eastern Flank. This week, representatives from the UK Ministry of Defence and the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office démarched the Russian Embassy to condemn the pilots’ dangerous and unacceptable behaviour. Defence Secretary John Healey MP said: “This incident is another example of dangerous and unacceptable behaviour by Russian pilots, towards an unarmed aircraft operating in international airspace. These actions create a serious risk of accidents and potential escalation. “I would like to pay tribute to the outstanding professionalism and bravery of the RAF crew who continued with their mission despite these dangerous actions. “Let me be very clear: This incident will not deter the UK’s commitment to defend Nato, our allies and our interests from Russian aggression.
