Wow! 40,000 teacher left teaching last year! That’s a huge 9% of all teachers. And 90% of those were pre-retirement. This is astonishing, a crisis. What is Gillian Keegan doing about it? #DoYourJobGill

@talkSPORT No chance this was a pen. Got his body in front of De Bruyne. Basically flopped to the ground. Right decision

@talkSPORT Correct decision based on the rules of the game. However the rules are ridiculous.

@DavidHarpham77 @metpoliceuk The dogs look massively out of control. Danger to everyone. These guys are doing their job. Not sure I would want to be in their position. Social media has gone mad. Always people thinking they know better!!

@MissySM Watched football all my life. Never quite understood why fans cannot just get along like rugby fans do. Just a game, massively overplayed tarts diving around, particularly in this era of football.

@RogersHistory 🤣🤣. Teaching itself is easy Tom. It’s all the other crap that forced me out. Inept leaders, all the bureaucracy bullshit, lack of support for parents, lack of stringent policies. The list goes on and on.

There’s 10,000 teacher vacancies on TES right now, perfect opportunity for those who think it’s a piece of piss to take them all. We will wait.

@RogersHistory Really interesting conversational topic. Maybe you have to question the fact that education as a whole needs to be changed. The way things are done haven’t really evolved for years. Education hasn’t really moved with the times to cope with the different types of learners…

If 350K students are missing school every day, are parents taking some responsibility for this? Are they getting them out of bed and in there when they rage against going or increasingly backing down and saying ‘ok’? Are some ignoring the issue altogether? Obv there are deep issues going on here, but this absence issue isn’t on teachers and maybe, just maybe, it’s worth mentioning parents and parenting in the dialogue around this.

@blandy73 @CR_UK Wishing your brother all the best Blandy. My wife was diagnosed with stage 4 in 2019. She is miraculously still here and doing great. University of Southampton Hospital were miracle workers and without them she wouldn’t be here today to see our 2 young kids grow up.

@ashantipayne I have just seen the amount of teaching jobs advertised and it’s the most I have ever seen. I taught Geography and PE for a combined total of 15 years. So glad I found a way out. The problem will continue to spiral.

@TommyBPE @RogersHistory Left teaching after 15 years and have gone into recruitment. I work from home 2 days a week. Drop and pick kids up from school more regularly now. Much happier and paid much more 👍

What too many ppl don’t get - if teachers continue to join the profession and leave the profession at the current rate, there won’t be any properly qualified teachers left to teach their children. On realisation, there will be panic, but too late. Better to act now but ppl are set on the idea that ppl in education are the ones causing the problem.
