@ASITP_Gord Not sure anybody knows. All we got is educated guesses, and then you use advertising and so on to mitigate a lot of the risk. Perhaps the best way to ensure success is having popular IP, but that falls under 'spending countless millions'

Not even being facetious. I don't know! My game is in an *extremely* narrow existing genre that doesn't even have a very successful representative yet, but I do have high confidence in it because I felt like we knew exactly what it needed.

Serious question: is it actually lower risk to invest countless millions into projects that introduce tweaks on existing successful ideas than it is to create something new & unique?
