I really not to be negative but if you use/defend gen ai in any way you are a traitor to the human way of life. You are a decrepit soul tarnishing thousands of years of creativity and nourishment of the mind, and are openly making the world we all live in meaningfully worse. Im so sick of this even being “discourse”, the fact it’s so “popular” and widespread already is a thorn on humanity. There is no justification and i hate anyone who defends this and what they stand for

@realcouri this may be a controversial take, but is gen ai really the problem? we live in a society, a capitalistic society. it has served us good enough, but does it still work when lots of our lives are in digital spaces and most digital work can be copied with couple ai prompts?

@baoyinbb @realcouri no it's not generative ai. It's a different kind of isolated AI that analyses patterns. This kind of AI is only used for scientific research. GenAI is different because it is so bad for the environment. it steals copyrighted content from creators. and it steals jobs from artists.

@realcouri You probably mean ‘gen ai for art’ since pretty much all research being done in fields you’d support, like cancer research, makes use of gen ai in their workflow

@winnerchamp5 @realcouri I would even say coding is art, especially for personal use like games or your own websites. Commercially that may be less the case, but that brings in another moral dilemma which is that ai literally is just replacing the jobs of thousands and making people think less.

@realcouri Not all gen ai is created equal. I think gen ai in art is soulless and self-evident trash. Gen ai in something like coding is totally chill and only increases the impact each engineer can have.
