@AndyBurnhamGM Burnham left Westminster after losing the 2015 leadership contest. Having abstained on the Tories welfare bill and having supported Blair down the line, he saw no future in remaining an MP under Corbyn. It was a career move, NOT a protest against "the national political system."

Be Alarmed! The barrister who represented Pal Action activists has been charged with contempt of court. In the US, when CP leaders were convicted in 1949, their lawyers were also sent to prison for contempt. The effect was to deprive those subsequently accused of representation.
Garden Court North@gcnchambers

(1/3) Garden Court North members express solidarity with Rajiv Menon KC, a highly respected silk and member of @gardencourtlaw, who faces prosecution for contempt of court following his closing speech in a high-profile and politically sensitive criminal trial.

IMO Reform will struggle to lift its vote share much further. BUT remember: Hitler won only 33% of the vote in the last free-ish election before seizing power, backed by big business. We needed a popular front then, and we need it to stop Reform now. No one group can do it alone.
Patrick English@PME_Politics

We’ve released the BBC Projected National share based off the council results. Reform 26% Green 18% Labour 17% Conservative 17% Lib Dems 16% A clear but far from overwhelming victory for Reform, with everyone else clustered in a big lump behind them. Ultimate fragmentation.

𝗝𝗢𝗜𝗡𝗧 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗙𝗥𝗢𝗠 𝗟𝗔𝗕𝗢𝗨𝗥'𝗦 𝗔𝗙𝗙𝗜𝗟𝗜𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗗 𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦 Labour’s affiliated unions are deeply concerned by the Party’s catastrophic election results. They show a stark disconnect between this Labour Government and the working people and communities that it was elected to represent. Voters right across the country have sent a clear message: that this Government are not delivering on the promised change they so desperately want to see. This cannot continue. Voters want to see a radical new direction from Labour, that stems the tide of division and unites workers and communities in every part of the country. TULO unions are united in calling for a fundamental change of direction on economic policy and political strategy, so that Labour do what it was elected to do: govern in the interests of workers. Labour must also deliver the rebalancing of power in the workplace promised in the New Deal for Working People, in full, without any carve-outs or loopholes. The stakes are too high to continue on this path. Labour’s unions have a responsibility to the Party that we created, and as a result TULO have demanded a meeting with the Prime Minister and Party Leadership to discuss the urgent change in direction that we all know is needed.

Like other socialists, I want to vote for candidates whose values are closest to my own. In Gwynedd Maldwyn, that unquestionably means voting Labour because its list is topped by Ian Parry - who I've known for six years and who I'm confident will fight for the values we share.

McSweeney getting on his high horse about malicious rumours is nauseating. He and his allies destroyed the livelihoods of legitimate, hardworking journalists, including NUJ members, using baseless smears via an astroturf campaign. This questioning is abysmal. Another institution failing to even marginally hold McSweeney to account.

Hilariously, when you actually read this FT article 👇 one of the main "national security problems for Europe" that could be "posed by Chinese green technology" is, quote: "that the US could demand Europe remove Chinese technology from its energy systems — or face tariffs, sanctions or reduced security commitments." In other words, a risk that has literally nothing to do with China but everything to do with the US's chokehold on European sovereignty.

Our debt to Cuba is "immeasurable", says Ronnie Kasrils, veteran leader of the armed struggle against Apartheid. With journalist Mark Waller, he outlines how Cuba helped drive South Africa out of Angola in 1988, triggering the regime's end. A must-read. businessday.co.za/opinion/2026-0…

This needs some serious fact-checking! If half the time of 305 staff costs £100m, their average full-time annual salary (after NI) must be £570,206. I don't think so. Besides, 305 half-time union reps is a tiny number relative to the NHS's 1.4m staff. Ridiculous story.

This poundshop propaganda takes us for fools. The headline says the Russians "tried to spy on UK" but the report itself acknowledges that the submarines were in international waters. Subs from numerous countries prowl around the North Atlantic - and have done for decades.

Did Britain facilitate war crimes? Iran's foreign minister says: "Some of the bombers which left from UK bases were on missions which led to the deaths of civilians in Iran." At the very least, this warrants independent investigation. @ZackPolanski @jeremycorbyn @RichardBurgon
Emma Murphy@emmamurphyitv

Iran certainly doesn’t agree with the British government’s position that UK bases were only used by the US for defensive rather than offensive missions. Iran’s deputy foreign minister @SKhatibzadeh says some of the bombers which left from UK bases were on missions which led to the deaths of civilians in Iran.
