January can be a pretty dour month so here’s a couple things to make you giggle! 😂 The Peek Frean Mint sounds a fun place! And who can spot the #Bermondsey reference in the Anatomy of #London? Courtesy of @vizcomic & @Londonist
Would like to thank @Se_Railway for the cattle truck also known as the 17:17 London Bridge to Hastings. Packed to the rafters, only 4 carriages. What a joke!
@BoomRadioUK Congratulations to all the BOOM Radio team. It's a pleasure to have real radio back on airwaves. It reminds me of listening to Capital in the golden days.
We're so happy to report that in the official audience figures out today, our audiences have grown for the eighth successive time! Total listening has almost doubled in the last year. Not bad for a team of presenters - average age 70 - from their sheds, lofts and back-bedrooms!
Happy 50th Birthday to UK based commercial radio with the opening of LBC on 8th Oct 1973. Capital Radio 539 arrived a week later and saved us Londoners from Radio 1. Listen to BOOM Radio for a day of celebration.
@LondonRemember1 Nice photo of the Beor War Memorial, unveiled by Gen. Buller in Bermondsey Town Hall. The Town Hall was bombed in WWII, demolished in the 1950's. I obtained funding from Southwark Council and it was moved to its current home via a stay in West Lane, SE16. Restored by DBR.
Children used to use the stone entrance to St James’ Church, #Bermondsey as a slide. Arthur Carr, Chairman & Managing Director of Peek Freans, would see them on the way to the factory in Drummond Road. He had the ‘Joy Slide’ built, which opened in 1927. #JoySlide#PeekFreans
