NEWS RELEASE – SECOND UPDATE April 27, 2026 The Starkville Police Department has made two additional arrests in connection with an April 25th shooting on Maxwell Street near Lummus Drive. Dewaylon Brooks (23), of Starkville, and Anthony Davis (19), of Starkville, have each been charged with attempted murder. These are the third and fourth arrests made related to this incident. Detectives previously arrested Juantel Hughes (19), of Starkville, and Jordyn Barrett (21), of Starkville, who were also charged with attempted murder. This incident remains under active investigation. The Starkville Police Department would like to thank community members for their assistance in this investigation.
