Gasmet has joined VTTs METECH project, which focuses on developing more accurate and reliable emission measurement solutions for new low- emission fuels. As sectors such as energy, marine, aviation and off-road machinery move toward cleaner technologies, emissions need to be measured in a way that reflects real operating conditions. METECH brings together methods and instrumentation for measuring key gas and particle components, including CH₄, N₂O, NH₃, SO₂, ultrafine particles and black carbon, at the low concentrations typical of new fuels. Gasmet contributes to the project with its experience in FTIR-based, field-ready multicomponent gas analysis. Our role is to help ensure that measurements remain accurate and comparable even in demanding environments. We look forward to working with @VTTFinland and the other partners and supporting the development of practical solutions for future low emission technologies. The METECH project is coordinated by VTT. In addition to Gasmet Technologies the partners include Finnish Meteorological Institute - Ilmatieteen laitos, @wartsilacorp, Proventia, @Tampere University, Dekati Ltd, Pegasor Oy, Airmodus, Helsingin seudun ympäristöpalvelut @HSY_fi (Helsinki Region Environmental Services Authority), AGCO Power Oy and Maurus Oy.

In CBRNE operations, the choice between a gas detector and a multi-gas analyzer directly affects situational awareness. Detectors are designed to alert for known target gases, which works for predefined risks. In many defense and security scenarios, however, substances are unknown, mixed, or present at very low concentrations, requiring analyzers that can identify and quantify gases in real time.
