🇺🇦🤝🇦🇲 Ukraine and Armenia signed an agreement on a long-term cooperation.

🇪🇺🇦🇲 The EU is holding its first-ever summit with Armenia. Here's why that's a bigger deal than it sounds: Armenia used to be firmly in Russia's camp, part of its military alliance, dependent on Russian energy, protected by Russian peacekeepers. Then Russia failed to defend Armenia in 2 wars over Nagorno-Karabakh in 2020 and 2023. Armenia started looking west. Today, the EU formalised that shift: energy partnerships to cut Russian dependency, a new EU military mission in Armenia, cyber experts deployed ahead of June elections, and Frontex border cooperation. Europe just gained a foothold in the South Caucasus, right on Russia's doorstep.

I had a good meeting with Prime Minister of Armenia @NikolPashinyan. Thank you for the invitation to the European Political Community Summit. This is the first visit by the President of Ukraine to Armenia in the past 24 years. It is important that we are restoring active dialogue between our countries. We discussed the situation in the region, as well as security challenges and threats. I briefed the Prime Minister on the diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving a real peace. We also discussed the development of our economic partnership. I proposed resuming the work of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation and holding its next meeting this year in Kyiv.

MACRON: Armenia made geopolitical choice to break free from Russian constraints and turn toward Europe. Russia wasn't there for Armenia when it needed support. Same goes for Venezuela, Syria, Iran, Malian regime. From geopolitical perspective, it's better not to rely on Russia.
