We’re loving our Mamma Mia unit! We continued to learn and sing different sections of the song and even began to play on the glockenspiels. The improvisation part was definitely our favourite. 🎤🎵 #TheGatesMusic

In Reading this week, we learned about David Attenborough ahead of his 100th birthday. We learned lots of facts and plotted them on a timeline. #TheGatesReading

This week, in our Commando Joes Session, we learnt how to work as a team and build resilience to escape gladiator school. We had so much fun! #TheGatesCommandoJoes

In Year 4 DT, we experimented with making series and parallel circuits whilst also creating two different switches. At the end of the lesson, we evaluated which which would be the best for the night lamps we’re making. #TheGatesDT

In Y4 Music we kicked off our new unit, “Mamma Mia”! 🎶 We loved learning about ABBA and listening to and appraising a range of their songs. To finish, we explored finding the pulse of the song and started learning verses 1 & 2! #TheGatesMusic

We continued to explore our topic of Ancient Greece in History today. We learnt about the three different periods: archaic, classic and hellenistic and sorted significant events into these periods. #TheGatesHistory

This week, in our Commando Joes Session, we learnt how to move together as an organised unit. Through this mission, we learnt how essential teamwork is to working in perfect harmony. #TheGatesCommandoJoes

Today in our PSHE lesson, we explored how journaling can support mental health and well-being. Taking time to reflect, process thoughts, and express feelings can make a real difference 💭📓

In Science this week, we explored different electrical components used in circuits. We learned how to draw circuit diagrams before working in pairs to investigate and build our own. #TheGatesScience

Like true gladiators in the arena, our children showed resilience, courage and self-awareness in their first Commando Joe’s session this term. Led by our corporals, they battled through an assault course with determination ready to rise to any challenge!

Doves had a super afternoon today with a Lancashire cricket coach. We first practiced our bowling and then our batting skills through some drills. We then put this all together with some matches at the end! 🏏☀️🕊️

In @CommandoJoes this week, we were tasked with the mission of relaying messages. We worked in teams to ensure the correct message was replicated and passed on. This task required lots of teamwork and effective communication! #TheGatesCommandoJoes

Our Mini-Police team were out in action yesterday on Chorley Road, supporting a speed deterrent operation alongside local officers! Every member had a chance to use the police speed gun, explore the speed van and even meet some special visitors! #roadsafety @gmpolice #MiniPolice

The weather isn’t holding us back today! We’ve been exploring the site of the Anderton Centre whilst orienteering! We used our brilliant map skills to find numbers dotted around the site. #TheGatesSMSC

This week in Geography, our Year 4s created sketch maps of our local area. We explored what makes an effective sketch map before identifying key points of interest to include. 🗺️ #TheGatesGeography

Doves Class rose to the challenge during our DT stay and Learn session. The mission was to construct the tallest, sturdiest tower using spaghetti. They worked together to share ideas and showed great resilience when things didn’t quite go to plan. #thegatesdt #resilience
