This can be such a strange country - why am I seeing people jubilate, that a man, who once commanded the highest heights of power, took decisions that affected all of us, but now out of power, and being sought back home for various alleged criminal offences, but who has clearly evinced the intention of never returning to face accountability has been granted permanent residency by another country? Is this a record we are happy about especially as it relates to public accountability? Every other politician is watching and calculating their next move. But in any case, extradition has nothing to do with permanent residency, even nationals (plus dual nationals) of a foreign country can be extradited to another country.
