people acting like just because it’s grass that serve dominated matches are entertaining to watch. what makes grass interesting is the variety it introduces with its low bounce and fast courts, using slices and drop shots and cat and mouse tennis is far superior than servebotting

@Deliday5 big serves are obviously an advantage on grass and it’s impressive but it also reduces the crafty rallies that make grass interesting

@GauffWinwhen You clearly havent chewed much grass matches. Big servers make the difference on grass. Now when you have two with big % of serves it gets tight

@neilmack_the I watch tennis at every tournament all year round and even have been to both US Open, Queens and Wimbledon, so I have seen enough tennis. What I have noticed is the dominance behind serve on the ATP is at an all time high and it makes matches less interesting.

@GauffWinwhen I think there was more to it than that. But also, maybe you should watch more than one match at Wimbledon to judge. I've watched plenty of ATP tennis over the last 12 months and there's been a lot of exciting matches.

@LindenJohan i enjoy wimbledon when i see quality grass court tennis. obviously serve is a big factor on grass but if there are matches with 45 aces from each player its boring

@GauffWinwhen It’s called Wimbledon. Grass is by far the most boring surface. But that’s over now. Next grand slam will be more to your liking.

everyone in the comments saying ‘why don’t you try returning 135mph serves’ when i never said i could. I’m saying that men’s tennis has progressed to the point where it’s entirely serve dominated and sets don’t become interesting until 6-6 in the score line.

@BJay_99 like the top 10 WTA is a bloodbath and they have to compete to earn their spot. On the men’s tour you can barely do anything and reach top 5

@GauffWinwhen When you look at this field then the WTA race, it’s just a stark difference (obviously) but those women are COMPETING.

@frenzyfraser it’s not even just a skill gap because i do believe there is one. They just don’t have the mental capacity. See how they all feel apart at RG26 when Sinner was out and that was their best chance at a slam

@GauffWinwhen Lot to do with the surface. 25 yrs back (before Fedal), the Wimbledon surface was even faster. So you had big servers like Sampras winning matches in tie breaks without breaking sweat.
