Former Souths and Tigers CEO Shane Richardson says he believes the NRL must base their 20th club in Brisbane’s west.
Richardson - who spearheaded the unsuccessful Firehawks bid which lost out to the Dolphins - says the game risks losing the region to the AFL.

Super League’s highly anticipated Rivals Round lived up to its billing over the Easter weekend, delivering a compelling mix of sell-out crowds, high-scoring contests and fierce local derby drama throughout the competition.
Across the seven fixtures, attendances surged with multiple venues exceeding five-figure crowds and three sell-outs, underlining the enduring appeal of Rugby League’s biggest rivalries.
The Hull derby (12,325), St Helens vs Wigan Warriors (17,980) and Castleford Tigers vs Wakefield Trinity (9,455) all played out in front of capacity crowds, while Bradford Bulls (14,991), Catalans Dragons (10,259) and Warrington Wolves (11,026) each attracted attendances in excess of 10,000, contributing to a strong aggregate crowd of 80,208 across the round.
The Easter showpiece once again demonstrated its ability to bring fans through the turnstiles, with several clubs continuing their trend of attracting 10,000-plus audiences. This reinforces the competition’s upward trajectory in 2026, with attendances up 13% from 2025 heading into Round 7.
On the field, Rivals Round delivered in equal measure. Matches were played at high intensity, producing 58 tries and more than 300 points across the weekend. Standout performances included Warrington’s emphatic 42-6 victory over Leigh to go top of the table, and St Helens’ dramatic final nine minutes against Wigan which saw them go from 24-10 down to winning the game 34-24.

I’m not saying the eagles were going to come out and give the swans a run for their money, but the swans off a 16 day break played a team off a 6 day break. I’m not sure how that is at any fairness, in any world. Another fixturing disaster. #AFLEaglesSwans

Man, the Attitude Era hits right in the feels…
Those wild Monday nights, glass shattering as Stone Cold stormed the ring, The Rock cooking everyone with promos, DX yelling “Suck it!” while the crowd lost their minds…pure rebellious chaos that made wrestling feel dangerous and fun again.
It saved WWF, owned the Monday Night Wars, and gave us memories we still quote and laugh about decades later.
Nothing’s ever topped that raw energy. Attitude Era forever, baby. Those were the days. 🔥
Who else misses it like crazy?

Kurt Haggerty says his Bradford Bulls side were devastated after losing 24-12 to the Leeds Rhinos in front of the club’s biggest Odsal crowd since 2012.
Despite losing Waqa Blake, Phoenix Steinwede (both Blake and Steinwede are facing long injury layoffs) and Leon Ruan to injury, and suffering player fatigue in the last 20 minutes, Kurt expressed pride in the team's effort, resilience, and spirit against a strong Leeds side, even in defeat.
Kurt also confirmed that Rowen Milnes is suffering from abductor and achilles pain, significantly impacting his training and goal-kicking performance. Praising Milnes for pushing himself through the pain thresholds to play.
Kurt also mentioned that the Bradford Bulls have worked hard to sign Tom Guilhaumou, a young French international halfback, who will play for the Bradford Bulls reserves tomorrow.
Guilhaumou is seen as a bright
prospect for the future.

Micah Richards on his wage struggles:
"At 17 years old, I earned £5k-a-week. Manchester City offered me £100k-a-week for 5 years. I said no because I was number two to Zabaleta. It's the worst decision l've ever made.
Why do you think I work for every broadcaster? I went to Aston Villa, that was less money. But then we got relegated in the first season, so my wages halved. So l've gone from a £100,000-a-week offer to like £25,000 in the Championship."
