@JulianFried This globalist premise is the largest problem with the era of boomers. It costs more to employ your neighbors ... That's why America prospered domestically when our government was built on tariffs.

This is 5x the global average wage, by the way. I'm a welder and have no problem with this. If you want 5x the global average wage, you need to do 5x the work. If you want 10x the average, do 10x the work. Personally, the only way I see to get there is through automation. I want 1000’s of welding robots under my control and I will charge accordingly

Employers: "lack of skilled labor! Gaww!" Also employers: $24/hr for SKILLED welder Feels. Bad. Man.

@CompletedStreet Busses are among the most dangerous things on the road. They are trains on rubber and allowed to drive alongside vehicles 1/10th their size. Buses shouldn't be allowed on the road...they should be trains and reserved to the tracks.

Which makes the conversation about local communities and if they have the sovereignty to vote to fund local projects like fire departments and schools how they see appropriate or about if people who voted to tax themselves and others should be excused from that burden and be allowed to push it down the road onto others.

@BilloscarSmith @yinyang_yo_ The discussion topic isn't mortgage, but property taxes, specifically property taxes high enough that they are substantial part of your budget, so you don't own your own house even after you paid of mortgage, but have to rent it from government instead.

"Property taxes will push grandma out her house!" The way the suburban model was supposed to work is that retirees sell their houses to downsize, and younger working professionals buy their house This was supposed to help drive support for the development of smaller houses

@BilloscarSmith @yinyang_yo_ It's probably not appropriate to call this the "suburban model". This premise of the working generation taking the big house and supporting Grandma and Grandpa in the little house has been the norm on family farms for centuries.

@yinyang_yo_ I have 4 kids in high school and college so definitely concerned about affordability, however do not agree that "the suburban model" was supposed to work as you describe. the ethic for the now retired generation was to save and pay off the mortgage before one retired.

If we truly owned our homes, we wouldn’t have to pay rent to the county to keep from losing them.

That spike in homelessness wasn't remotely relevant in 2012, homes were cheaper than a new car. Horrible idea to let the government influence essential services like housing through Fannie may or like health through the ACA, Medicaid, and Medicare. Anyone competent enough to draw that government intrusion onto a graph of supply and demand can see how clearly it would hurt people.

"Short term pain, for long term gain." Gas is now $4 per gallon in my hometown. The most I paid under Biden in Ohio ever was $4.09. You all KNOW FOR A FACT if this all happened under a Democrat, then MAGA would be losing their minds. MAGA is dead and the cope is insane.

@NeverFearTheFal @SlopHq Bs, look at any plat map and you'll see the lines across the nation from when we used to choose rails over roads. Why do progressives want to act like it's 1925?

a freeway costs $50-200 million per mile to build and we don't ask it to turn a profit. a train line proposes the same price tag and suddenly it needs to be self-funding by 2031. the infrastructure we subsidize reveals what we value and we have chosen the car every single time

Are homes precious metals? Are our businesses? If you'd prefer, look at the price change in a subway sandwich , just don't pretend the statistic pushed by the government purposely downplaying things like housing costs reflects the true average when real life necessities like a home are up 3x
