This is one of the only photos of Einstein wearing a yarmulke. It was January 1930 and he was preparing to perform two violin pieces by Bach and Handel at a charity concert at the New Synagogue in Berlin. The event was called for 7:30 p.m. and included an evening prayer service.

@ScoreSettlers Absolutely not. It's a glorified temp score with a little bit of Martin Phipps' previously written War & Peace score reworked into it. The music does, however, call attention to itself (Vikingur Olafsson playing Rameau??) so on the cynical theory of nominations...

@profmweiss Nu nu, what do you listen to

Before Covid I used to listen to about 1-2 hrs of podcasts a day (mostly commuting to & from work and walking around campus) and when everything went remote that number dropped to 1-2 hrs per week, so I unsubscribed from nearly everything, and I am just now getting caught up

@sparklyjew What's especially wild about this, to me, is that historians are relatively certain that Jesus and Mohammed both actually existed. Jesus and Mohammed aren't absent from museums because they aren't real, just because we don't know for sure that we have any artifacts from them.
