The moment Eli Sharabi, who was held hostage in Gaza, told the UN the truth. "NO ONE in Gaza helped me. I was treated worse than animal. The civilians saw us suffering and they cheered our kidnappers. They were definitely involved." Share this. The mainstream media won't.

Lenny is 17 months old and has firmly established several important facts about himself. He is fast. He is sociable. And he is, as this footage confirms, equally at home in the water as he is on dry land. Born in December 2023 to ex-orphan Lima Lima, Lenny is the 67th known wild-born calf to an orphan raised through our Orphans' Project. Many more have arrived since, but we think you'll agree there is something uniquely special about this water baby. It's probably because of his mother – a suspected poaching orphan who established herself as the scout of the herd, looking out for her elephant family and Keepers alike. Alongside this responsible streak runs a verve for life that sees her parenting lean decidedly hands-off! Leaving Lenny to run riot in the water (supervised by us, of course!) 💔 From abandoned to adored 💝 ⛑️ Zada came to us in the West Bank as a young foal with a deep neck wound needing urgent care. We rescued her — and now, 7 years on, she’s thriving at our Arrana Rescue Centre, surrounded by love and friends 🙏 👏This is why we do what we do 💛

Thirteen years ago, Erika’s world was made of concrete floors, busy streets, and endless exhaustion, as a begging elephant. When she first arrived at our centre, all it took was one look into her eyes for us to know that she deserved so much more, a life filled with comfort, care, slow walks on soft grass, the quiet hum of birds in the forest, and peaceful afternoons spent beneath the trees. It has almost been a month now since Ella, Erika’s closest companion, passed away due to old age. But Erika still carries the memory of her dearest friend with her. She still lingers around the paths they once explored side by side, pausing near the spots where the two shared quiet moments together. Their bond was extraordinary, and a part of Ella continues to live on with Erika. Today, every splash in her pool, every gentle step that sends soft vibrations through the earth, and every moment spent surrounded by her herd reminds us of the power of rescue, rehabilitation, and compassion. Here’s to 13 years of healing, friendship, and second chances, happy rescueversary, Erika! 🐘

As Head Keeper Edwin narrates who is who while the orphans run home for their bedtime bottle, we'd like to know: what burning question would you like to ask us, or a member of our field teams? Put it in the comments below and, over the coming days and weeks, we'll endeavour to answer as many as we can on our main feed.

Please don't harm Opossums! They’re harmless and actually really useful. They keep pests in check (eating ticks, roaches, rats, and scorpions), clean up dead animals, and help spread seeds. Basically, they’re nature’s cleanup crew!

“Tree of Life” Tsavo, Kenya 1993 A lone acacia tree in Kenya's Tsavo East National Park, captured by Yann Arthus-Bertrand in 1993, serves as a vital hub of life in the savannah. Countless animal tracks lead to it, some seeking shade from the relentless sun, others feeding on its leaves, and predators drawn by the wildlife it attracts. This "Tree of Life" is more than just a tree, it's a symbol of resilience and the delicate balance of ecosystems. A reminder that even a single tree can sustain an entire web of life.

⚠️ DOG ABUSER - MAKE HER FAMOUS 🚨 CONVICTED | Joanne Oakes, 39, from #pontefract, West Yorkshire WF8 - left her pet dog to die in a crate. Oakes was prosecuted by the RSPCA after her chihuahua-cross Ruby was found starved to death in her crate. In August 2024, RSPCA officers were called to a property on Yew Tree Walk in Knottingley after concerns were raised about Ruby’s welfare. Oakes had apparently left the dog in the care of her mother, Debbie Oakes, without the latter's consent, and had failed to make arrangements for her care. Joanne Oakes pleaded guilty to two offences under the Animal Welfare Act. RSPCA inspector Hannah Williams said: "Poor Ruby had been suffering for weeks before her tragic death. "The conditions she was living in were unacceptable, and her most basic needs were not being met." Sentencing | 26 weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months; 270 hours of unpaid work; ordered to pay £250 in costs and a £154 victim surcharge. 10-year ban. === Debbie Oakes and Joanne’s brother, Colin Oakes, were also charged but failed to attend court, and arrest warrants were issued for both of them. We have a special boy arriving today called Mika 😍 He has been at Brighter Days Rescue for the last year, but isn’t coping being shut in a kennel or being around people. But he adores other dogs. They will have space to help another dog and Mika will get the freedom and companionship he so needs with us. Rescues working together is how we can all help more dogs. The welcoming committee are getting ready to work their magic 🐕🐕🐕 We can’t wait to meet you Mika!

While Tytan enjoyed a mud bath fit for rhino royalty, Notty brought in the (one-zebra!) cavalry to ward off invading warthogs. All in an afternoon’s work for our favourite duo! The orphans are so lucky to have Keepers like Simon, who spare no detail for their little charges. Wondering about his eye-catching coat? That’s for Notty’s benefit: foals imprint on stripes, so any Keeper on Notty duty wears the designated zebra coat. Meet Tytan, the youngest orphaned black rhino in care, and support his journey back to the wild through an adoption: sheldrickwildlifetrust.org/orphans/tytan

How many elephants can you count? During his morning patrol over Tsavo, pilot Roan tallied more than 150 elephants in this herd. It’s a sign of the times: When food and water are plentiful, elephants can aggregate in great numbers without putting too much stress on the landscape. This ecosystem is home to Kenya’s biggest population of elephants. Spanning 50,000 square kilometres, it is prime elephant country. While Tsavo’s elephants enjoy themselves, we will be patrolling overhead and on the ground, working to keep them safe. Learn more and support our conservation work: sheldrickwildlifetrust.org
