MBHS Pirates Girls Basketball

🏆Sunset League Champions!🏆 Last night's win secured a share of the Sunset League title. This is the 2nd league championship in the past 3 years. The girls finish the regular season with a 19-6 overall record. Playoff brackets come out tomorrow with games starting on Saturday!

🏀 COACH OF THE YEAR 🏀 Last, but certainly not least, Coach Alex Engel was chosen as one of the Coaches of the Year in the Sunset League this season! He led the team to a 21-7 record, a league championship and a semifinals appearance in the CIF playoffs. Congrats Coach Engel!

Aubri came into games, knocked down shots, played solid defense and was a key contributor to our success! We can’t wait to watch her continue to grow over the next two years!

@NickWilsonTrib @KSBYSports @CsportsupdatesC 🏀 All-League Honors 🏀 Ella Lobos was also a 2nd Team All-League selection! In her sophomore year, she took on an increased role as a point guard. She’s a menace on defense and quick on the offensive end. We’re looking forward to seeing the next level of her game as a junior!

🏀SUNSET LEAGUE MVP 🏀 Senior captain, Violet Pace is this year’s Sunset League MVP! She averaged almost 20pts in league while facing the toughest defenders. Violet finished this season as the 4th all-time leading scorer in MB girls bball history! What a career!

Proud of this group and the way they competed all season long. 💙🤍 Our playoff run came to an end last night in the semifinals with a 52–34 loss to Shafter, finishing the year with a 21–7 record. Grateful for the hard work from the girls and all the support from our community!

MOVING ON! Pirates executed a great defensive game plan and got a win vs Porterville tonight, 37-25. Taylen Robson battled down low & scored 13 pts for game tape, but big shout outs to Josie & Ella for their defensive effort all game. We travel to Shafter Fri for D3 semis!

Big first round win for the Pirates! Final score: 63-27. Game tape went to Josie Smith with a monster playoff debut finishing with 15 points, 5 steals and 5+ rebounds! On to the second round against Porterville on Wednesday!

Pirates earned the #3 seed in Division 3 in the CIF Central Section playoffs! We’ll open the postseason at HOME on Saturday at 6pm against #14 McFarland. Can’t wait to begin the playoff journey! Come pack the stands!

Proud of the girls for coming back and getting a big win to close out the season vs Righetti! Game tape went to Taylen Robson for a big time double-double (14 pts/10+ rebs) - she was a monster inside! Season record: 19-6. Stay tuned for playoff updates soon!

Pirates got a 64-9 win against Cabrillo last night. Violet Pace took home another game tape with 29 points, 9 steals, 6 assists and 5 rebounds. Next up is Righetti on Tuesday to wrap up league play and celebrate our seniors! Overall record: 18-6, Sunset League: 7-2

Pirates picked up their 17th win on the season against Lompoc tonight, 38-26! Emily Cordes takes home game tape with 11 points and some clutch baskets late in the fourth. The girls are back on the road on Friday to take on Cabrillo! Overall record: 17-6, Sunset League: 6-2

Pirates get a 58-34 home win over Santa Ynez making them 5-1 in league. Big games from Makenna and Violet tonight - Makenna with 10 points, 6 rebounds and Vi with 19 points, 10 boards, and 5 assists! Next up: Morro Bay will host Atascadero on Friday at 6:30.

Big bounce back win today in the Valley against Coalinga. Final score 61-48. Violet Pace took home the Player of Game award with 24 points and 5 steals. Game tape went to Taylen Robson for 8 points and 13 rebounds! Next game: Santa Ynez at home on Tuesday!

Pirates drop a tough one to Righetti tonight, final score 53-55. Quick turnaround as the girls head to the Mission Oak Showcase to play Coalinga tomorrow at 1:30pm. Overall season record now stands at 14-5.

Pirates win over Cabrillo, 55-21. Double game tapes today for Zoe & Violet - both with 18 pts! Zoe also grabbed 8 boards, had 6 asts, 6 stls and 1 charge! Violet finished with 6 rebs, 5 asts and 4 stls. Friday we head to Righetti to finish out the 1st round of Sunset League play!
