Man suffers a diabetic attack causing him to blackout while driving. Officers t@se him twice which lead to a 1.95m settlement. 46-year-old Jeffrey Callaghan was driving his black Ford pickup truck down Gravenstein Highway in Sebastopol, California, with his 6-year-old daughter in the passenger seat. Callaghan, who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes as a child, suffered a sudden, severe hypoglycemic episode after his continuous glucose monitor malfunctioned. As his blood sugar dropped to dangerously low levels, Callaghan became profoundly disoriented and confused. His vehicle drifted at low speeds (20–30 mph) before coming to a stop in a roadside ditch near the local Antique Society. Officer Forrest Whitehall of the Sebastopol Police Department pursued the vehicle and approached with his firearm drawn, shouting commands for Callaghan to exit the vehicle. Because Callaghan was experiencing a severe medical emergency, he was dazed and physically unable to respond or process instructions. Officers interpreted his lack of reaction as active non-compliance. Officer Whitehall deployed his Taser twice in rapid succession, sending Callaghan to the pavement while his frightened 6-year-old daughter watched from inside the truck. During the struggle to force Callaghan into handcuffs on the ground, officers fr@ctured his right fore@rm. When emergency medical technicians arrived at the scene, they quickly tested Callaghan's blood sugar, recognized the diabetic emergency, and administered glucose gel. Callaghan rapidly regained full coherence and explained his medical condition to the officers. Body camera footage captured officers acknowledging on scene that a DUI was unlikely and that Callaghan had experienced a medical event. Hospital blood tests later confirmed zero presence of alcohol or drugs. Despite this, officers processed Callaghan and booked him into county jail on felony evading charges. The Sonoma County District Attorney's Office subsequently reviewed the incident, dismissed all allegations, and declined to file any criminal charges against Callaghan. Callaghan subsequently filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against the City of Sebastopol and the officers involved, alleging excessive force, unlawful arrest, and civil rights violations. In July 2026, the City of Sebastopol officially agreed to a $1.95 million settlement to resolve the lawsuit. These are the types of officers we could do without. More worried about arrest numbers than health and safety of the citizens. Should not have taken the DA to drop the charges.

Some new police trivia right here. What major U.S. city was the first to officially adopt fingerprinting for criminal identification in 1902? As always I will share the correct answer after 24 hours.

Cop tries to get security footage from a convenience store of a drunk driver, but instead gets verbally destroyed by the mayor and business owner. A Houston MO Police Department officer responded to the Hwy 63 Pit Stop gas station following a report of an allegedly intoxicated driver inside the store. Officers approached 51-year-old Jeffrey W. Watts, who exhibited clear signs of intoxication—including slurred speech, bloodshot eyes, and a strong odor of alcohol. Watts repeatedly denied driving, refused a preliminary breath test, and refused field sobriety tests. Because officers hadn't directly witnessed Watts driving on public roads, they handcuffed and detained him in the back of a cruiser while attempting to review the store's CCTV footage to confirm physical operation of the vehicle. While waiting to view the surveillance tapes, the officer was confronted by the store's co-owner, Willy Walker—who was also actively serving as the Mayor of Houston, Missouri at the time. Mayor Walker and his business partner, Jeremy Foster (owners of C&W Concrete & Construction and the Hwy 63 Pit Stop), aggressively ordered the officer off the property. Walker accused the officer of harassing customers and ruining his business, demanding a formal written request before he would hand over any security footage. He also accused the officer of lying about who called 911. Lacking immediate access to the camera footage and without direct observation of Watts behind the wheel, officers had no choice but to unhandcuff Watts and release him from detention. Officers explicitly warned Watts that if he attempted to drive his vehicle off the lot, he would be arrested on the spot for DWI. Watts agreed to leave the car parked and arrange a ride home. Political Fallout: After bodycam footage of the incident circulated online via FOIA requests, public backlash erupted over Mayor Walker using his position and business ownership to derail an active police investigation. Mayor Willy Walker lost his re-election bid to Viki Narancich. What do you think, who was in the wrong here? I'm very interested to see the answers on this.

New trivia is on deck! What iconic automotive feature—now standard on almost every car—was invented in 1903 by a woman named Mary Anderson after she watched a trolley driver struggle to see through snow? As always I will share the correct answer after 24 hours.

🚨 A 20-year-old got lost on his bike and asked a police officer for directions. After the officer’s hostile response, he went to a nearby White Castle to ask employees instead. The officer followed him, confronted him aggressively, pulled him off his bike, took him down, and put him in a chokehold. All charges were dismissed, but the city paid $9.3 million in a federal civil rights settlement.
