@N4N0_2100 @Framed_Door @ND1539 They weren’t sued BECAUSE they modified the hardware. They’re getting sued for SELLING modified hardware. Nintendo is very strict about monetizing mods. This has been known for years. Just don’t sell modded switches.

@N4N0_2100 @ND1539 I haven’t heard of anyone getting locked out of their switch for modding. Also if you want to use the term evil, you should include the many mass layoffs that Sony and Microsoft have done. Multiple higher ups have taken pay cuts to keep employees paychecks at Nintendo.

@ND1539 Nintendo is arguably more straight up evil, but not less consumer friendly. Malicious fraudulent lawsuits are *really* evil. Also anti-modding is horrible. They're just telling people they don't own the hardware they purchase.

They won't let you kill anything other than the fish you eat, so the predators that attack you will keep attacking you no matter how often you drive them off. It gets SUPER frustrating after a while. The devs sneering at people who just want a dang knife did not help.

@Mythundios @18Voltz @PLeigh_Presents @moemuxhagi Killing creatures in subnautica 1 was an option, but so outrageous that the devs never thought people would do it. Heck the only thing you could reasonably kill was a stalker, and that was tedious. They simply removed it because they didn’t want to confuse players again.

It always goes back to “play the game how I want” And no one told anyone to fuck off, you just don’t want to play subnautica and that’s fine. You can play a lot of other games that have what you want. Subnautica is not that game.

DO YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT JUST HAPPENED TO SUBNAUTICA 2.. > be Subnautica 2 developers > player politely asks why you can’t kill most creatures > level designer snaps back: "This is not a killing game, go play Sons of the Forest if you want violence" > another dev adds that big creatures will stay safe because "the game should feel right" The first Subnautica let you stab leviathans with a knife. Now they want you to peacefully coexist with 50-meter monsters like it’s a underwater yoga class. Why do developers treat their most loyal fans like this? Why can’t they just answer normally without being condescending and aggressive? Loyal players are the ones who supported you for years. If you keep talking down to them, they’ll simply stop playing. And in the end, you - the developers - will be the ones who lose the most. Peak "go touch grass" energy in 2026. You think this approach will help the game long-term or are we watching it slowly die?
