People of the PAX West persuasion! I will be around the show all (long) weekend, so say hi and come check out the Borderlands 4 booth on the show floor! My panel schedule can be found below:
@ThatSamWinkler *summoning the dad voice* SAMUEL HORATIO WINKLER the 97th! What on earth do you think you are doing?!?(Not really mad, just disappointed. And really, if it works for you, cool. But I could never...)
We're working hard to get the lights back on for all our customers affected by the recent storm. Despite significant damage, our crews are making progress in getting substations back online and breakers closing. 1/2
@Layer8problems@DNF_ValuingBump@rush298@PSETalk You can think that what you've said isn't just some weird defense of a company who doesn't give a shit about you or anyone else. But it is. Or at the very least, that's how it comes across.
@rush298@DNF_ValuingBump@Layer8problems@PSETalk That would suck and be pretty awful. But yeah, it may be a first world problem. But guess what? That's the world we live in. And I did try calling. Guess what else? They aren't answering the phones. Likely because they have 100000 pissed off people with no power.
@Gear_skull@DNF_ValuingBump@Layer8problems@PSETalk Imagine being someone who doesn’t have access to internet or smartphones to begin with. No map? No worries. You can call and ask for more relevant info. But not sure I’d like to take calls from grumpy guys like you. #Firstworldproblems
@Gear_skull@DNF_ValuingBump@Layer8problems@PSETalk Seems you expected this to be a debate. I’ll be over here crocheting and reading a book by my generator light and Starlink internet. With my gas car and wood heat. It is what it is.
@Layer8problems@DNF_ValuingBump@rush298@PSETalk And you can keep defending companies with record profits that leave their customers in the dark. Someone else in this conversation is the tool.
@rush298@DNF_ValuingBump@Layer8problems@PSETalk And this "magic" 11/23 at 12pm they just shove on to all of the outages is an outright lie. But they won't actually tell us when things will be fixed. Because they were and are under prepared.
@rush298@DNF_ValuingBump@Layer8problems@PSETalk It's not about sharing "everything". I don't need to know the nitty gritty. When they say they are going to communicate through their outage map, and then their outage map has no actual information, they need to communicate with the public. And they aren't. Not enough at least
@DNF_ValuingBump@rush298@Layer8problems@PSETalk There's nothing to give up. I have my opinion. You have yours. They differ. I think this whole thing has been mismanaged from the start. Nothing has been presented to me from any sources that changes that opinion.
@Layer8problems@DNF_ValuingBump@rush298@PSETalk In this current economic climate where a small handful of people control a ridiculous portion of all the wealth? Crushed by student loan debt? We are lucky we are making it by as we can without some "off the grid" nonsense.
@rush298@DNF_ValuingBump@Layer8problems@PSETalk And that sucks, and we are in the same boat. But defending a company with ridiculous profits and a millionaire CEO when they are not doing everything they can to get things fixed is a joke.
@Gear_skull@DNF_ValuingBump@Layer8problems@PSETalk This is not a “PSE” only issue. ALL of the local utilities are incredibly overwhelmed by a storm that happens rarely. 700K customers out is more than double the typical “major” wind storm event. I’m with a different Electrical Utility but I’m still out of power since Tues.
@Layer8problems@DNF_ValuingBump@rush298@PSETalk What exactly does that have to do with anything? I would much rather be paying them to have the service that they are required to provide. If there was a competitor I could go with, at this point I would.
@DNF_ValuingBump@Layer8problems@rush298@PSETalk They only said they already brought crews in. But that appears to be insufficient for the task. So yes. Spend more money and get what you need to get things fixed. It's not unrealistic or unreasonable to expect a timely fix. Rolling in to say 4 is not timely.
@Gear_skull@Layer8problems@rush298@PSETalk Idk if you read the part where they’re bringing in extra crews. They’re doing all they can to get this resolved quickly. You just saying “well they should spend more money or get more linemen” is unrealistic. Sorting this out slowly is a lose lose for everyone
@Layer8problems@DNF_ValuingBump@rush298@PSETalk Better prepared how exactly? I have a generator (and I'm lucky I have that) that can keep my fridge going and run one space heater. That's it. And a lot of folks are worse off than that. I don't think it's entitled to expect an essential service company to provide said service.
