@DanBiggles22 @irishpeloton That’s true. We call these moves ‚saddle shifts‘ and they definitely have negative effects in some ways: power output, energy, symmetry and aerodynamics. Improved saddle stability is better foundation for higher TT performance.

@irishpeloton It’s a measurable aero loss. @gebioMized published some good data correlating inconsistent saddle pressure (saddle hops) with a higher CdA. It’s clear to see when you test somebody.

Every 10 or so pedal strokes, Chris Froome lifts himself up slightly and scoots his arse backwards in the saddle.
Alberto Contador used to do exactly the same.
Surely there is a significant cumulative loss of power by doing that. It seems like something that could be solved.
