An extortion group claims 350GB - mail servers, databases, confidential documents, contracts. The Commission confirmed the breach of the cloud infrastructure hosting its Europa.eu platform.
This is the institution that wrote GDPR. That oversaw over a billion euros in fines last year for data protection failures. That is currently drafting enforcement for the EU Data Act.
On someone else's cloud.
The regulation was never the problem.
The architecture was always the problem.
If you don't control the infrastructure, you don't control the data. Not even when you wrote the law that says you should.
