I think the argument that Andoni Iraola has never won a trophy or coached a top club is a very lazy one from some Liverpool fans. There are many coaches who had never won anything before being appointed by a bigger club, yet they transformed those teams and went on to achieve great success. Examples include Pep Guardiola at Barcelona, Luis Enrique at Barcelona, Jürgen Klopp at Borussia Dortmund, and Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid. There are many more examples as well. Enzo Maresca is another example. He quickly implemented his ideas and won silverware. Big clubs have the resources to help a coach succeed, provided the coach is capable and hardworking. Modern fans often want managers with big names, but judging a coach solely on trophies or previous clubs is a lazy argument. What matters most is the coach's ideas, ability to improve players, and whether they can build a successful team.

Liverpool need to think big. We are a massive club. They can't gamble on this appoint. Here are my 4 first choices. ° Jurgen Klopp ° Luis Enrique ° Julian Nagelsmann ° Carlo Ancelotti

@Corballyred Unfortunately we don't have the ambition to attract Enrique. Iraola is used to working with no money, which is why FSG will give him the job. Mark my words.

Luis Enrique has saved football. Now we need him to save Liverpool. This should be the no 1 target for Hughes and Edwards 👍

@Corballyred And we got the wrong one even back then. This club is one failure after another. Even Klopp's reign was a failure. 1 league title in 8 years is pathetic. It was just less of a failure than every other LFC manager in the last 30 years.

2004 was similar to now. Houllier got LFC Champions league football finishing 4th, but still lost his job. Parry understanding the size of LFC went after the 2 most sought after coaches in Europe, Rafa Benitez who had just won La Liga & Jose Mourinho who had just won the CL That's how big we are and Rick Parry understood this. Does Richard Hughes understand this???

I woke up with a big smile on my face this morning remembering Arne Slot was no longer Liverpool manager 😄 🙌 But from here club needs to be ambitious, we need to get this app right, we are one of the biggest names in football, so we should be approaching the elite managers like Luis Enrique. I'm okay with Iraola on our managerial candidates list but absolutely no way he should be our no 1 target. Love to say I trust Richard Hughes judgement but I don't 👍

@GooalMouth Iraola is used to working with peanuts, just as Slot was, which is why FSG appointed him in the first place. Alonso would haven demanded more control and would want to see ambition from the club, which is why FSG waited until Chelsea signed him before sacking Slot.

Congratulations to Arsenal on becoming Premier League Champions. Respect to a club that showed faith in a young manager, stuck by him when times got hard, slowly built the team that he needed to compete and ignored the noise. No state funding No trigger-happy owners No egos in the team who thought they were too good to be benches/rotated There was a time pundits called Arsenal soft, terrible at set pieces, weak defensively and a soft touch. They flipped all of that on its head and have finally been rewarded. They are hard to beat, defensively impenetrable, mentally strong and the kings of set pieces. Fair play.

Please please don't sell Alisson. He is still the best goalkeeper in the Premier League. And we are miles better when he plays. 33 is young for a keeper.

His stats are nowhere near Arne Slot’s, and while I don’t want Slot back either, I still don’t see what’s so special about Iraola. He wanted £200k p/w plus bonuses up to the age of 32 after his worst season and Liverpools worst 38 game PL goals conceded tally. LFC have Leoni coming back and have already signed Jeremy Jacquet so letting Ibou go is completely justified.

Losing Salah, Robertson and Konate on free transfers is a shocking start to the window. Should have got 20m for Salah and at the very least 40m for Konate. And they will accuse you of not been a fan if you question it.

@Corballyred It will. I predicted we would finish 5th or 6th this season and win nothing, and I was spot on. As it stands, next season we'll be 7th or 8th and win nothing.

Robertson, Salah and Alisson are all leaving this summer. In a squad that’s already desperately short on leaders, we’re only being linked with young players. Losing your experienced core from a team lacking fight with a manager who doesn’t exactly project leadership feels like a catastrophe waiting to happen. Next season could make this one look successful for LFC👍
