i absolutely hate when some restaurants ask you to scan a qr for the menu because now it’s a table full of friends just on their phones. the joy of collectively flipping through well designed menus and debating what to order while yapping is such a wholesome experience. i get the operational ease but something very real was lost

something feels uncomfortable about the they'll-come-for-you-too rhetoric. should solidarity always be predicated upon self preservation? is the trans bill—or any other atrocity—only reprehensible insofar as it poses a danger to ones own liberty in the future?

My cousin is a die-hard football fan. I watched a match with him once, didn't understand anything, but just was amazed by the choreography of it. That he understood what I was talking about instead of making fun was a huge deal. Now he sends me match dates to watch choreography!

I fully believe “separate the art from the artist” is only applicable when said artist is either dead or financially removed from their art. You can’t act neutral when you’re literally lining their pockets by supporting their work.

This is so very true. If we have more of a culture of public libraries and reading rooms, many many more women, young people, queer folx, and people from marginalised communities would seek these out instead as safe spaces to read and write.
Ayushi Mona Singh@TheMonaFactor

Half of the crowd we see in cafes is because we don't have investment or maintenance of public library infrastructure in India.

No cure for endometriosis. No proper management for menopause. No adequate symptomatic relief for menstrual discomfort. But let’s get handicapped sperm a wheelchair to make not so healthy babies because it would make men feel strong.

#PeriodLeave 🧵 I'll give you decades of my own experience living with #endometriosis and extreme pain while working high pressure jobs with managerial duties. When employers in the 2000s weren't so aware and top positions didn't have that many women bosses, periods used to be

A full day period leave in recent years. So many women I know don't need a period leave. But I'm glad to know I have the option to. I'm glad because office work isn't the only labour I do as a mother and wife. I'm disgusted by employers who are arguing women would not be hired

This. I don't think people realise how much safe spaces can help bring our A-game. Was discussing exactly this in our non-visible disability support group this week. We cannot work in spaces where we constantly have to fight to be seen+heard.

Ok for me to go lie down till the meds worked. I could work from home, clock half a day, step away for an hour, anything I needed. What did it change? I ensured I gave my best work, I ensured no one was inconvenienced, I was grateful so I only took what I needed. When I got

Epstein Files has got so much attention, it's only right to pay attention to the voice of Epstein's "Number One" victim---Virginia Roberts Giuffre. Always, always listen to the survivors, shed light on their voices.
