According to the hanbali madhab, the voluntary fasts which have been emphasized in the sunnah(such as fasting ashura) or ones that haven’t, would be accepted even if one does not intend to fast for it the night before,

6) As for the one who curses the companions unrestrictedly [not out of worship], he is a Fasiq and the madhab is he is to be punished (Ta’zir). ▫️All extracted from Kashf al Qina’ by Shaykh Mansūr al-Buhūtī (d. 1051 AH).

5) As for the one curses the companions out of worship, this is a bid’ah mukaffirah, in which the layperson is ruled as a Fasiq, whereas their Mujtahidin who’s a caller to this bid’ah is a Kafir.

Abu Hanbal
Abu Hanbal@TabishHimself·
Safi al din Ibn Abd al Haqq al Hanbali upon learning of the passing of the imam, the scholar remaining of the Mujtahideen, Taqi ad deen Ahmad bin Taymiyyah Al Harrami said: “May You find a resting place O seal of the scholars, in the abode of Zulfah with the righteous friends, the merciful, the honoured, righteous leaders and imams Oh, how much knowledge, intellect, and eloquence has been lost with your passing and how much guidance and illumination of the hearts has been obscured. Where are the sciences and logical arguements that used to be relied upon in Questioning and giving religious verdicts? Where is that beautiful character and the empathy towards visitors upon meeting them? The source of virtues has been dried up since you passed away, and the eyes of the unfortunate have become blind. No scholar can match your insight and persuasion against those Greek philosophers. Who will solve the doubts after you? Who will clarify the issues that were beyond the comprehension of the weak minded? Who will suppress the opponents who argues against the true religion due to their deviant beliefs? Who will show kindness and respect to the stranger after you? with a welcoming face and the grace of shyness? The stranger has been lost since your departure and cannot find any support in the open desert. You are the most knowledgeable about Allah without any doubt. As well as the sciences and the most well versed in the traditions of the noble messenger, as narrated by the great imams. You are the most knowledgeable of what is authentic and what is not, The most knowledgeable of trustworthy and weak narrators The most knowledgeable of the opinions of the jurists and the rulings Your character was similar to that of righteous leaders rich in poverty and generous to the needy. You were content with what you had ,blessed with good health and were sincere and pure in your piety. (Skip some lines and continue) They accused him of everything and every vile statement. They were incapable of overcoming him Can anger compete with a solid rock? a rust that shines brightly in its strike? O Ibn Taymiyyah, you are triumphed in this world. And you are known by Allah , amongst the martyrs. Al Uqud ad durriyah page 479-483

And the saying of the Prophet ﷺ: “So attain (choose) the one with religion” has great meanings, for beauty is relative; one person may see a woman as beautiful while another sees her as unattractive. And the shortest-lived thing in this world is beauty,
