I am happy, I think DeVries will figure it out, our entire team this year was mid major misfits, Lamar proved he can play at any level, the rest of them did exactly what you’d expect from mid major basketball players. Once we get some real players and development things will turn around

@CraigPr78225493 @W_B_Rick IMO there is 0 reason why Woodson couldn’t get any 3 star kids from Indiana that could shoot a 3. It’s literally the state of basketball and so many kids grow up dreaming to play there. Zero excuses for not having shooters on his team to build around TJD

@GenZHoosier @W_B_Rick Woodson helped create the modern game. His Knicks in 2012 set records for most 3’s attempted and made in a season. I think he just built around TJD early and tried to play to his strengths. Woodson was a much better coach than Crean, Crean was a much better recruiter.

@awaywwordz I don’t disagree, I just don’t see the program firing a coach after 1 year. I also (even if we did do that) would get seriously frustrated if the next coach isn’t “THE” coach because then we’re just in a constant loop of shuffling coaches

@GenZHoosier IU needs a great coach for this to happen. And Devries is average at best. Hope we cut our loses now and hire someone who consistently excellent and a winning coach.

I know everyone is up on our football but I just don’t enjoy football nearly as much as basketball, I’m yearning for a great basketball year, hopefully next year we have better results #iubb

@pdhoosier1972 Zero tolerance isn’t the word I’d use but if we don’t make the tournament then I’d agree cut our losses, but if there is improvement I can see DeVries being a good coach with a roster he gets to develop

Tbf, he was left with nothing, no recruits besides Sisley that were worth anything, and very short turnaround time to rebuild from ground 0, we have some prospects that seem good, it’ll be a tough path but he is a much better recruiter for high school students then Woodson ever was

Darian DeVries tried to build his Year 1 #iubb squad with quick fixes, old transfers. It didn't work. Now he's left with nothing and has to start all over next year. Didn't set a culture. No player growth. Nothing. Just a completely wasted season.

In the topic of DeVries as a coach, I have concerns about why we didn’t play Sisley down the stretch of the year, and I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt being first year in Big Ten because it’s definitely a different conference then anything he’s seen. Next year is going to be a large tell for me if he’s the right coach. I still believe he is, I think great things take time. The problem is IU fan base doesn’t understand this anymore after our success with football, but this quite literally may never be replicated. Basketball imo is about recruiting and developing players more than football where you can kind of pick the best portal players mixed with those you’ve developed and have great success. I think we let DeVries recruit in state and see what he can do. Future will be bright #iubb
