Premiering December 1, 2025 on our YouTube Channel: The Moment We Stand A story that confronts silence, challenges power, and exposes the lived realities of young women on our campuses, where 7 in 10 female students have experienced sexual harassment. It highlights the need for safer learning spaces for everyone across campus communities especially women and girls, where their voices are heard, their boundaries respected, and their futures protected. As the world marks the 16 Days of Activism under the theme “Unite to End Digital Violence Against All Women and Girls,” this film becomes our reminder that harm, online or offline, must be met with collective action and accountability. The moment we stand is the moment change begins. We were honoured to be part of the Gender Career Fair at Nile University, Abuja; a powerful space dedicated to exposing students, especially young women, to diverse career opportunities and the importance of gender equality in school and the workplace. At the event, we engaged with female students on the importance of amplifying women’s voices, speaking up with confidence, and taking up space in rooms where women are often underrepresented. We also shared Gender Mobile Initiative’s work in tackling sexual harassment in tertiary institutions through the implementation of anti-sexual harassment policies and the strengthening of response and reporting mechanisms like the campusPal App. A major highlight for us was introducing our Campus Champions Programme, which empowers students to become advocates for safer campuses. We’re excited that 50+ female students expressed interest in joining this movement. Together, we are building a future where every student can thrive in safe, inclusive, and equitable learning environments. #CampusSafetyInitiative #CampusChampions #GenderEquality #NileUniversity #GenderMobileInitiative

From training 50+ campus champions to engaging 500+ students, our Campus Organising at Nasarawa State University, Keffi was a powerful step toward safer campuses. 💙 Across two impactful days, we trained student leaders, deepened awareness on the institution’s anti-sexual harassment policy, and introduced the CampusPal App as a vital tool for reporting abuse and accessing support. Through conversations, games, campus drives, and peer engagement, we’re building a culture where students are informed, empowered, and equipped to speak up. This is what safer campuses look like. #CampusSafetyInitiative #CampusOrganising #CampusPal #NasarawaStateUniversity #GenderMobileInitiative

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. This year’s theme, “Looking Back, Moving Forward,” calls us to reflect on the realities that continue to enable sexual violence and to commit to meaningful change. This month, we are focusing on shedding light on the cultures, traditions, and social norms that perpetuate harm, while calling for urgent cultural audits. As recent events continue to spark important conversations, we are choosing to confront the beliefs and practices that normalize violence, silence survivors, and hinder accountability. Because moving forward begins with questioning what we have normalized. #SAAM2026 #LookingBackMovingForward #CulturalAudit #GenderMobileInitiative

At the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (#CSW70), global attention is focused on a fundamental question: how do we ensure and strengthen access to justice for all women and girls? As part of this ongoing dialogue, Gender Mobile Initiative joined other stakeholders at a side event convened by the Ford Foundation to examine this question within the Nigerian context: In Nigeria’s plural justice system, what justice truly works for women and girls experiencing sexual and gender-based violence? The conversation brought together voices across Nigeria’s justice ecosystem, from traditional authority (Benjamin Ikenchuku Keagborekuzi I) and the formal judiciary, to leadership from the Ministry of Women Affairs and academia. The conversation reflected an important reality: justice in Nigeria does not exist within a single system. It operates across statutory courts, customary structures, and Sharia systems, all of which shape how women and girls seek redress. For many survivors, the journey toward justice does not begin in a courtroom. It often starts within communities, in traditional institutions or informal mediation spaces that are closer and more accessible. While these systems can expand pathways to justice, they can also create inconsistencies and risks for survivors when strong accountability mechanisms are absent. At Gender Mobile Initiative, our work continues to demonstrate that access to justice is not determined by laws alone. It is shaped by power, proximity, social norms, and institutional accountability. Expanding justice for women and girls therefore demands intentional coordination, shared standards of accountability, and survivor-centered approaches across all justice pathways. As conversations at #CSW70 continue, one principle should remain clear: A plural justice system must never translate into plural standards for the rights of women and girls. #GenderMobileInitiative #CWS70

Today, on International Women’s Day, we reflect on this year’s theme: “Give to Gain.” Progress toward gender equality has always been driven by people who are willing to give; their voices, their time, their courage, and their commitment to building a fairer world. At Gender Mobile Initiative, the women behind our work continue to give their expertise, passion, and leadership to advancing gender justice and creating safer, more inclusive spaces for women and girls. In this video, some of the incredible women on our team share what International Women’s Day means to them, their reflections, motivations, and hopes for the future. Because when we give our voices to the fight for equality, we all gain a more just world. #InternationalWomensDay #IWD2026 #GiveToGain #GenderMobileInitiative
