State prosecutors have called for custodial sentences for two accused individuals in a case involving firearm offences and attempted murder, with sentencing now scheduled for April 29. For Mugabe, the State is seeking 12 months’ direct imprisonment for pointing a firearm, as well as an additional 12 months for contravening the country’s firearms laws. In the case of Tobias Matonhodze, prosecutors are pushing for significantly heavier penalties. They are seeking a five-year prison term for attempted murder, alongside 12 years for unlawful possession of a firearm. Additional charges against Matonhodze include defeating the ends of justice, for which the State is requesting a 12-year sentence, as well as a fine for unlawful possession of ammunition. Prosecutors are also seeking a further 12 months’ imprisonment for contravening firearms regulations. Follow 263chat whatsapp channel on: whatsapp.com/channel/0029Va…
