How to Relocate to the UK Using the Research & Academia Route (Global Talent Visa) 🇬🇧
With a Global Talent visa you can work in the UK in academia or research, if you have an endorsement as a leader or potential leader in one of the following fields:
→ science
→ medicine
→ engineering
→ humanities
→ social science
You’ll apply under the Academia & Research route of the UK Global Talent visa.
For the academia and research route it is not about just having a degree. It’s about proof of impact.
They are looking for:
→ Published papers
→ Speaking engagements
→ Research contributions
→ Leadership in your field
Endorsement Routes (4 pathways)
There are four main routes to get endorsed:
1) Academic & Research Appointments (Fast-track)
For example you’ve accepted a role (e.g., Lecturer, Professor, Principal Investigator) at an approved UK university or research institute.
2) Individual Fellowships (Fast-track)
You hold (or held within the last 5 years) an approved fellowship.
3) Endorsed Funders (Fast-track)
You are named on a successful grant from an approved funder (e.g., UKRI). You must be hosted by an eligible institution
4) Peer Review (Standard route)
For applicants who don’t qualify for fast-track.
This requires strong evidence of exceptional talent or promise. This is the most competitive route

You’ll likely spend time:
