@BasedDongeezus @Gentlemanscomba Yeah, I think Meltzer was just confused or lazy. RINGS started doing more shoots around 1995, but it was still a pro wrestling company. It was only after Maeda retired in 1999 that things got more blurry. Then KOK came along.

I know firsthand how much of a pain in the ass record keeping for a sport as carny as MMA can be but this is kinda ridiculous. Not a fan of retroactively designating things as official or not when dozens of different rulesets existed and were widely considered official MMA bouts
