What if the US is targeting these islands?
For example: Kharg generate the vast majority of Irans foreign revenue, supporting national economy. 🇮🇷🤔
By that, they can strangle Iran. Forcing them to do deals. 🇮🇷🫱🏻🫲🏼🇺🇸
- Greater Tunb & Lesser Tunb Islands:
-What they have: Iranian military garrisons, naval outposts, surveillance posts, airfields/runways, missile systems (including air defense and anti-ship), underground bunkers for weapons.
- Help to US: Neutralizing them removes Iran’s forward bases for monitoring/attacking tankers, mining the strait, or launching fast-boat swarms. Secures the critical chokepoint (~20% of global oil) and denies Iran easy disruption power.
- Abu Musa Island:
- What it has: Small civilian population, airport, port facilities, IRGC troops, air defense (e.g., Hawk systems), artillery, anti-ship missiles, surveillance/jamming gear.
- Help to US: Controlling it flips tactical oversight of shipping lanes, eliminates close-range threats to oil tankers, and supports safer navigation for allies.
- Kharg Island:
- What it has: Primary oil export terminal (pipelines, huge storage tanks, deep-water jetties for supertankers), handles 90% of Iran’s crude exports; some military assets for protection.
- Help to US: Seizing/neutralizing it can choke Iran’s main revenue source (oil funds the regime/IRGC) almost immediately, creating massive economic pressure without broad mainland destruction. Provides strong leverage for negotiations while acting as a forward base.
Bottom line: These spots let the US target Iran’s “chokepoint power” (strait control) and economic lifeline directly — securing global oil flow. High risk though.
