In research led by @michaelschwalbe of our lab, partisan bias trumped truth in people’s belief and sharing of real + fake news— an effect that held across ideology, education level, and cognitive ability. Critical thinking begins with being critical of our own minds.

Fascinating (and frightening) work by @michaelschwalbe et al: Resistance to true news that didn’t align w political beliefs was greater than susceptibility to fake news that did. This means it may be harder to spread truth in today’s media climate than we thought..

I’m learning a lot from Dr. Bettina Love’s book, Punished for Dreaming. Love’s book shows how many school reforms have undermined the opportunity, potential, and belonging of millions of Black children. bettinalove.com/books/

The N-heuristic may incentivize large, fast, non-behavioral online studies, and deter research on underrepresented populations, immersive in-person studies, group dynamics, and long-term change.
