@GeoffShac What is your favorite US Open venue? Also, what do you think is the best US Open venue? Thanks for the phenomenal coverage this week.

I want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. I was involved in a bad accident coming back home to New york from Oaklawn. I was not able to eat for the first couple weeks because of multiple fractures but I’m getting stronger! 💪🏻

Great work from @GeoffShac highlighting the change in driving distance over 20 years on the 14th at Pebble Beach.

@Mvillegas03 If you watched the golf then you’d know the roll was not a factor in producing the distances on any hole at Pebble.

@GeoffShac Different hole my friend. The water from the ocean hits that part of the fairway when it splashes against the wall so it’s always wet there. Good try doe, think harder.

@TrevorImmelman @GeoffShac 1. It was blowing 25 -30 mph down and of the left making it wayyy easier to take that line. 2. The fwys were firmer this year than i can remember in the past.

@TheModelManiac @TrevorImmelman I’ve asked the USGA for anything they have on this front and they won’t divulge. There is a chart somewhere estimating what various clubhead speeds would see in terms of distance loss, but they won’t share. Fred Ridley has and estimated he’d lose 6-7 yards on his drives.

@apindara That putts % number isn’t great, but it’s the Playing Through % that kinda makes liars out of certain people making claims about % of ad time. The initials BC come to mind!

@MichaelAlexaki1 @BobHarig Love ya Michael and you know I feel for the Alexakis’ and Palisades, but it’s just not looking remotely feasible to introduce tournament activity to Allenford or the canyon in any way. Riviera has a lot of events in the coming years that will come at a better time for all.

@BobHarig Yeah what a dick I am for wanting normalcy in a life that completely changed for my entire family in the disaster. That school is where my brother and I went, our kids too, Palisades is my hometown, completely destroyed, and now a political football, great times

Both Tiger and Max Homa, Southern California natives, addressed the tragedy due to the fires and noted the difficulty in talking about a golf tournament scheduled for Riviera in a month. Tiger hosts that event for his foundation and said no decisions have been made -- including possibly moving the event -- at this time

The fires in LA have affected so many people and caused so much damage. @markbaldwin1 writes about a 9-hole muni, in a working class neighborhood that faces an unknown future. Their clubhouse is destroyed and the future of the course is in question. mondayq.com/posts/l-a-fire…

Bunkers are supposed to be hazards. Not hell holes. “We need to stop the worldwide madness of making bunkers bigger, deeper, costlier, and thought to need renovation when one out of a hundred golfers doesn’t draw a perfect lie.” More from @GeoffShac ✍️ linksmagazine.com/geoff-shackelf…
