Joel Connelly was our state’s premier political analyst, and I suspect I read every word he wrote since first running for office. He was also one of the worst retirees — Joel couldn't seem to stop covering Washington politics. He had a real gift for weaving our state's political history into his stories. I had the good fortune of getting to know Joel well, and I'm saddened by his death. Our state is poorer for it. My prayers are with his family.
