I love to read, and I can be pretty judgy. So please enjoy (or not) quick reviews of the latest books from my stack, continually updated. Includes books my kids convinced me to read; does not include books I couldn't make myself finish. #AmReading

Y’all, it’s been a long semester. So long. I’m beyond thankful for the wonderful humans who showed up in critical cartography class and demo’d how to persevere, collaborate, think & listen. Buncha ballers at this celebratory table right here. @UNM_GES @NMCommunityGeog

10 days until City Nature Challenge 2022 kicks off! We invite all @unm students, staff, & faculty to join TeamGES or TeamBIO. All you need is a phone camera and a few minutes to walk outside. Both teams are contributing to a city-wide effort! @UNM_GES @Cphotosynthesis

This novel contains my favorite-ever version of the Easter story so I end up reading at least parts of it every spring. This year got sucked in to reading the whole thing again. It’s weird, deep & so so good. 10/10 (yes I know Russia is canceled rn but good books are good books)

This was a fun & thought-provoking read. Set in a plausible dystopian future where privileged parents accept outrageous risks to help their kids get ahead (so: it’s the present?) Mainly a beautiful meditation on love & sacrifice. Also contains fascinating robot theology! 8/10

Great talk by my colleague @GeographyLane on her forthcoming book on the history and politics of water engineering in New Mexico, highlighting the ongoing colonialities of rule even in -- especially in? -- scientific discourse.

This personal story takes a journey across landscapes, cultures & histories to grapple w/environmental change. DeBuys suggests we shift focus from “cure” to “care” following the example of Nepalese villagers. 6/10 I wish more writers focused on hope & despair as climate impacts

I basically do not read books with this kind of cover. But this one was recommended by a triathlon coach I admire, so I gave it a chance. Y’all: I’ve been an athlete for four decades — why am I just now learning how my body works?? 8/10 so great, especially for us older gals

Not sure exactly what genre this is but I LOVED it. It’s partly rumination on motherhood & family life, partly (disturbing) obsession with a historical poet, partly detective story, partly gender studies. Also: there are very important past and future cadavers. 9/10 also bees 🐝

Catching up on recent reading: read this one last month and enjoyed its great characters and ideas. I got a little lost on the armageddon-theology stuff but loved the writing. 6/10
