The deadline for normal rate registration for ESWW24 is 15th October, whereas early-bird rates end on 15th September. Make sure to register as early as possible to benefit from the best rates (after the 15th of October, there's an increase in charged fees for registering).

At the #RMetSmeet "Keeping the lights on" meeting today. Looks like there's a really good mix of interested people in the room. Fingers crossed I remember all the important things I want to say in my talk!

Just spent a bit of time talking to some year 10 students about my career and what I do...bit hard to tell how interested they were though as the Teams connection was a bit dodgy and they (obviously) all sat at the back of the room!

The effects of the recent Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) passage have now subsided.
However, further increase in geomagnetic activity is expected over the next 48 hours due to the coronal hole influence, possibly combined with a glancing blow from a CME observed on the 24th April.

I think hybrid conferences are awesome & really help with accessibility & carbon footprint etc...
But I won't lie I really don't feel like I'm getting much out of virtual #EGU23 (especially for the ££). Home & work life inevitably encorach on conference attendance when at home!

Ah the joys of working from home....just as my important meeting started the neighbour started very loudly mowing the lawn. Literally 30 seconds too late for me to be able to go and close the window.

🚨Super exciting news! The @BritGeoSurvey is recruiting a new generation of scientists to support the delivery of our new strategy. We will soon have 20 (!!!) new permanent jobs available (+8 survey geologist posts) for anyone with geoscience expertise.

Finished prepping for #EGU23.. huge sigh of relief. Now I can focus on getting my head around the idea of my 1st time at EGU, and 1st in person conference in years... My main question to EGU-lifers is : how do you function with this song in your head the whole time?
