Ukraineflüchtlinge Meine Frau und ich haben bei Kriegsbeginn im Februar 2022 eine uns unbekannte ukrainische Mutter und ihre 16-jährige Tochter - natürlich völlig unentgeltlich - für etwa fünf Monate bei uns aufgenommen. Wir haben uns sehr für die Beiden eingesetzt: Die Mutter hatte nach zwei Monaten eine Arbeitsstelle, ihre Tochter konnte das Gymnasium besuchen; fast jeden Abend Nachhilfe in Physik, Chemie, Mathematik, Sprachen; Finanzierung eines vierwöchigen Sprachaufenthalts in Nizza; Kauf aller Kleider, Laptop, ÖV-Kosten etc. Unterstützung durch die Gemeinde: Null. Resultat aus unserer Sicht: eine völlige Enttäuschung. Eines Tages sind die Beiden ohne Abschied einfach ausgezogen. Seither haben wir nichts mehr von ihnen gehört. Im Nachhinein frage ich mich, ob diese Aktion im Sinne des grösseren Ganzen nicht völlig kontraproduktiv war.

They say Ukraine is defending the EU. Not true. Europe is protected by NATO and Russia has not attacked any EU member state. This is not our war. Ukraine fights for itself.

Today we decided to suspend diesel fuel deliveries to Ukraine. Shipments will not resume until oil transit toward Hungary via the Druzhba pipeline is restored. @ZelenskyyUA has decided not to restart oil transit for political reasons, deliberately putting Hungary’s energy supply at risk, while we play an essential role in Ukraine’s energy security. A large part of Ukraine’s gas, electricity and diesel imports arrives through or from Hungary. We cannot be expected to guarantee another country’s energy security while our own supply is put at risk. Energy cooperation must be mutual and based on respect, not pressure.
