@BoringBiz_ Work life balance may be a tad better if there weren’t 8 associates routinely on a call where maybe one speaks. Then rinse and repeat…when a billable hour is the most valuable thing

Have a few friends who have been restructuring and bankruptcy lawyers at Kirkland for a few years now I never thought it was possible, but they legitimately have worse hours and work life balance than investment bankers Talking around the clock work past midnights, weekends, and holidays. Very little room for personal life At some point, the money is not even worth it anymore

BREAKING: Law firm Kirkland is defying the private equity slowdown with a record $11.1 million partner pay for 2025. Kirkland became the first law firm to break $10 billion in annual revenues last year, advising on more than $800 billion of M&A deals in 2025.

@houstonairw Literally happened everyday at their previous Heights location off Heights Blvd, including one time in front of my family. As long as they fail to implement adequate security, it will continue. Not the burden of HPD to track down these losers, Lululemon should be more proactive

From the tees in front of the road, you either need to hit it up on the hill on the left - it’s flat and you have a clear look at the green 115-140 out, or blast it hard up the right side. Center of FW is worst as the slope in FW leaves tricky lie from which you have to carry that bunker. I will look from ten green to see the pin and plan accordingly. I am lucky to usually have a wedge in hand to that green. I like the changes to hole 6, it’s more interesting hole now vs the flip over the pond. The tee shot gives options, inlay back for a floater longer approach, instead of a side hill wedge. The angle off the tee to approach that green is critical to getting it close. Again, I observe that hole Location from 5 tee to play according.

1. Fields Ranch West is just not number one. Memorial Park is much better. Stop using “flashy-ness” and how much money gets put in as a metric for a “good course.” 2. I’m irked when a public course sports at $400+ green fee. Especially once you play it and realized how much money you’ve just wasted. I’m sure other places like BJN it would make sense. At least give me a scenic plot of land! But sheesh, FR-West is so not it. 3. Did not enjoy seeing the amount of new home builds going up around the course. Soon it will look like every subdivision semi-private Boring Town, USA course in Texas. 4. The entire FR facility felt like a destination for Bad Birdie-wearing “bogeys and beers” bros. I’m sorry. But it’s true. 5. It’s so fun how little time FR-East has been open since they started! Haha! Who even wants to play the only Gil Hanse design in Texas! (Childress Hall Lower, you better hurry up) 6. MEMORIAL FREAKING PARK HELLO????

@woody5090s @TommyyyGun Yea playing 12 the way it’s intended serves no benefit. It’s either aim left or right and 90% of time I’m still just trying to throw it off the right hill and miss the bunker entirely. They made 17 made much better too. 20 rounds post renovation may of been low for me…

You sound like a memorial rat to me haha! I’d agree with you on 12, except for the fact that the best place to be off the tee is 50 yards left of the fairway - which is hilarious and shows that extra layer of knowledge you get from playing over and over. Takes the front bunker out of play on your approach. Credit to @joe3jax for showing me that.

@woody5090s @TommyyyGun It’s always driver on 13 but I like your perspective. Definitely agree the more you play it, the better you understand where your miss should be and the intricacies of each hole. Don’t like what they did to 6. Not a fan of 12 but the course has character. I enjoy it each time

Fair opinion. We might just see the game differently. Playing it once is very fun, but I believe the beauty comes out when you’ve been around the block quite a few times. Landing areas begin to take shape. You start to see where the designers left a “good miss” spot. The intricacies of the greens become more apparent and affects how you hit your approach(2, 4, 8, 11, 15, and 17 come to mind). You learn which holes to go for it off the tee, and which holes should be played as iron-iron (5 and 13 come to mind). I could go on. Each round at MP to me is just another chapter in the book. And each time I learn something new about the course, myself, or @joe3jax’s past…

@TommyyyGun @woody5090s No unless watching the tournament on TV and thinking about how you played each hole means a lot to you. Coming from someone whose played it post renovation 20 times or more so not a memorial rat but have played a fair share

@Top100Rick Played North and South for the 1st time this past Dec and agree with your takes. Unbelievable scenery and the vibes by the entire staff & locals were great and relaxed. South required zero thought of the tee. Rough was penal for both courses. North was more fun

Is Torrey Pines overrated? 15 years ago, Torrey Pines was beloved. A muni PGA Tour course and home of Tiger’s glorious US Open on one leg. But as golf course architecture ideas spread on social media, so did the hate on Torrey. Is it justified? My take on Torrey Pines: It’s an awesome setting for golf. The weather is amazing. The views are excellent. The fact that it’s public means so much, anybody can show up and play this major test. But the golf course itself? It’s pretty much just okay. You won’t remember most holes and you won’t be asked to think. You will try to keep the ball out of the deep rough and then you will hit it again. The incredible land isn’t used to its potential. The green complexes won’t spark any joy and your creative mind won’t be activated. It’s still golf at a great place and I’ll always have fun there. Golf is awesome. And public major golf is rare, Torrey Pines gives us that. Torrey currently ranks #40 on the Golf Digest top 100 public. Taking a quick glance, I’d put it quite a bit lower. (If trying to judge the golf course alone, not the major history.) Should you play it? If you love golf history, then yes. I am glad I’ve played it and will play it again

@Bowtiedplayer If you’re a golfer, Jupiter or Hobe Sound area. Farther North and it gets even sleepier/older, which is where I’ve spent the most time. Imagine you probably want to stick close to WPB proper. If not for my wife and kids, I’d probably leave Houston myself
