@ExperimentoFilm @tiredie @hotdogs4zizek @KenJBourgeois I have been working with the original producer to try retrive material that exists but had to stop work on it with travel restrictions. Hopefully can start to pick up the project now as all involved are very keen to see it come together.

@ExperimentoFilm @tiredie @hotdogs4zizek @KenJBourgeois thanks for getting in touch and great to see this thread about the film. I have been looking for it for many years. The film was processed and an initial edit was made but the lab in Hong Kong who did the work went bust

@hotdogs4zizek @KenJBourgeois Raúl Ruiz, La Comédie des ombres, or, The Monkeys Cry Their Sorrows, a not-yet-released posthumous film in Mandarin (produced in Taiwan, 1996)

@tiredie @ExperimentoFilm @hotdogs4zizek @KenJBourgeois it's more that ruiz theorised it as literally posthumous as all the characters are dead and about a film being made in the afterlife. He fully intended to finish it

@ExperimentoFilm @hotdogs4zizek @KenJBourgeois @GeorgeandClark I remember reading various remarks by Ruiz about it where he seemed to be specifically designating it as a film designed for posthumous post-production. Were elements of it lost or destroyed at some point? Other problems (aside from budgeting)?
