So proud of @istvan_taisz and @GaliliDana for this elegant and rich scientific story that finally links sex pheromone circuits to dimorphic behaviour in #Drosophila. And a lovely 🧵 to boot. Read and enjoy!
Dana Galili@GaliliDana

Sex pheromones are a great entry point to understand #brain #circuits. @istvan_taisz and I investigated how cVA, the canonical #Drosophila #pheromone, is processed to control social #behaviour – and how flies use cVA to “see” in the dark! biorxiv.org/content/10.110… 1/14

I am pleased to share my first first-author paper! 🥳 In this review, my supervisor @yohisogai and I discuss transitions between parental and non parental behaviours, and the neural circuits underlying these repertoires sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

PhD milestone check!🎓 Super greatful to my mentor, my colleagues and my family for being my constants throughout this journey!!!!
Moritz Helmstaedter@mh_lab

@AnjaliGour18 summa cum laude for her PhD work on development of cortical circuits after birth, published in a landmark article in Science last year, on which she was sole first author. What an achievement for a PhD project. We are so proud of you, Anjali!!science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…

I’m super excited to have been awarded an #ERCStG for #innovaTEbehaviour. We previously showed that TEs are often spliced into important neural genes. With this grant we can generate a #singlecell TE atlas of the fly #brain and remove TEs to assess their impact on behaviours. 1/2

Are massive connectomic data worth the effort? Our Bayesian approach to the interpretation of connectomic data: nature.com/articles/s4146… @natcomms. What can we learn beyond the concrete interpretation of 3D EM data (cell types, synapse distributions, local circuitry..)..? (1/n)
