Prob taken for granted by people, but it's some training performance by WP Mullins to bring the Champion Hurdle, Champion Chase and Gold Cup winners back to Punchestown and win again. And they all hosed up.

Yesterday's FA Cup semi-final between Manchester City and Southampton had an official attendance of 70,053. 20,000 shy of the 90,000 Wembley capacity. This opens up the question again... should semi-finals be moved away from Wembley? 🤔

'There were no scars last season because I never thought I'd won it, I could also see the horses maturing and making a championship team for this season. There was an element of serenity and me thinking, He won't beat us next season. If you asked me how I've been able to get my name on the trophy, I would say it's planning, planning, planning. I knew we had to get to £4 million and I knew how we could do it. I looked at it strategically, weekly and monthly, assessing every horse in the yard. I worked out how we could do it and then set about it. At every point in the season, I was able to see if we were on track – and we always were on track. In fact, we were well beyond where we needed to be.'

PSG deservedly through but Liverpool gave everything tonight and if they’d scored when on top, who knows? Still, that was a performance fans can get behind and, unlike many of them this season, suggested something is being built during this season. Key now to finish it strongly.

👇 Ben Pauling on the controversial Cheltenham finale: “At first, there was a discussion to not run the race, but I think races like this are vital to the preparation, and we’ve just proved that. “I was exceptionally keen to get the race on, and I think we’ve dealt with it the best we can. “When I went down, the ground staff had done a brilliant job of moving the rail to protect the hole, but we felt it could probably come three yards further out and still have a clear line o sight at the last. “Obviously, the fading light was becoming an issue, but no one has fallen, everyone’s home, it’s a good result. “I wanted the race on, it was too dark for the photo finish on the camera, and I thought we were beat a head. I couldn’t believe it was taking so long for it to be announced, but I think it was clear that Brendan had won, and that’s grand.” #HorseRacing #Cheltenham

BREAKING: Justice delayed for jailed schoolteacher Enoch Burke who refused to use “they” pronoun Judge gives Appeal Panel two weeks to prepare their excuses for a shambolic hearing in December that broke every rule in the book. Enoch Burke was dismissed from Wilson’s Hospital School after he refused to call a student by a new name and the “they” pronoun. He appealed his dismissal to the Disciplinary Appeal Panel (DAP). This three person panel contained a barrister, a teachers union vice president and a member of a school principals organisation. At the appeal hearing on the 13th of December, Enoch Burke was subjected to an Appeal Panel that blocked cross-examination of witnesses from the school, denied Enoch fair procedures and abruptly ended the hearing without closing submissions. After Enoch Burke raised serious concerns, the Appeal Panel (DAP) cobbled together an additional hearing for this Saturday the 10th of January 2026. However it is now clear the DAP appeal cannot proceed with the same panel members that denied Enoch Burke basic rights, one of whom is a former ASTI Vice-President who blatantly stated at the outset of the hearing “If I were instructed by my principal to call a child whatever, I have to implement that instruction, I don’t make the instruction”. Enoch Burke’s application for an injunction halting the Appeal Panel’s handling of his appeal was due to be heard by the High Court this morning at 11am. One minute before the proceedings were due to start, a solicitor for the Appeal Panel approached Enoch Burke and informed him that the so-called “re-convened” hearing on Saturday 10th January would be cancelled. The High Court granted the DAP time to file a replying affidavit. The matter is back in the High Court on Wednesday, 21st January 2026. It is a scandal that Enoch Burke has to fight to simply get a fair hearing of his appeal.

@realJosiahBurke @EnochBurke He got dismissed for gross misconduct, but his imprisonment is for contempt of court on three occasions and trespassing at his former school despite a court order not to. THAT is why he is prison, absolutely nothing to do with calling a pupil 'they'. Stop lying.

BREAKING: Enoch Burke seeks injunction over "shambolic" dismissal appeal hearing Teacher Enoch Burke was dismissed from his teaching position at Wilson's Hospital School after his refusal to use a new name and the "they" pronoun for a student. The hearing of Enoch Burke’s appeal on the 13th of December 2025 was shambolic and devoid of justice. The Chair of the Disciplinary Appeal Panel, Mr Seán O'Longáin, allowed no proper cross-examination. Little to no questions were asked by members of the appeal panel. The hearing was abruptly terminated while Enoch Burke was attempting to question former Principal Niamh McShane. The parties were told that the hearing was over and the result would be delivered in due course. One member of the Disciplinary Appeal Panel (DAP), Geraldine O’Brien, stated at the outset of the hearing: “If I were instructed by my principal to call a child whatever, I have to implement that instruction, I don’t make the instruction”. Ms O’Brien repeatedly refused to distance herself from the position of her organisation, the ASTI teachers union, which in 2022 stated “…certainly we would advise schools to use the pronoun that a child wishes to be used.” It also came to light during the hearing the DAP had privately sought extra documentation from the Board. In response, the Board had provided a new document, never seen before by Enoch Burke, which provided a new rationale for his purported dismissal. After serious objections from Enoch Burke, orally and in writing, the DAP admitted just last week that no reliance could be placed on this document. Last Friday, in a one-line letter to Mr Burke, the DAP stated that they were going to "reconvene" the hearing. This is merely an attempt to whitewash after grave concerns were raised by Enoch Burke. This Thursday 8th of January, in the High Court, Enoch Burke will seek an injunction halting delivery of the dismissal appeal result. He is entitled to a fair and unbiased hearing of his appeal. A new disciplinary appeal panel must be constituted.
