Nature is reclaiming abandoned homes in the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone. The IAEA says around 150,000 sq km in Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine are contaminated, displacing 200,000 people. All 187 communities are deserted, with over 10,000 homes engulfed by nature. #chornobyl #chernobyl

From my deck in LA, I watched the Bridge Fire spread across the San Bernardino Mountains, burning over 52,000 acres since September 8. With only 3% containment, evacuations are underway. Last week's 117°F record is a stark reminder of our urgent climate crisis. #BridgeFire

When I returned to the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone last year, I photographed forest regrowth near Lubyanka, hit by fire in 2020. Radiation levels had spiked 16-fold back then. Another fire just swept through 6,500 acres, but no radiation increase has been reported yet.
