Kind followers: I will probably stop posting on Twitter soon (until there's a change of ownership) so please join me instead: on Bluesky - @germanderspeedwell.bsky.social or on Instagram - @thegermanderspeedwell. Bluesky is just like Twitter in design, so takes no time to learn!

I feed the corvids. Same time every day. A scoop of peanuts taken from the barn out to the meadow. The crow caws, alerting birds off in the village who gather in the trees watching. Handfuls broadcast on the grass. As I turn back the sky fills with swirling black shapes. Magical

@GermanderS aren't they? They have self-seeded over the years & I let them do what they want. Such a pretty variety. They bloom non-stop until autumn.

Self-seeded Cambrian (Welsh) poppies on a cooler day than of late. Swallows chattering on the roof. My plumbing exploits in the kitchen yesterday were successful despite much swearing at the ancient pipework. How wonderful not to have to put a 4lb weight on the tap to turn it off

I’ve a scan tomorrow-one of the scary ones. My brain’s dissociated due to anxiety-a weird detached feeling like watching things through a window, but I made this to try to reconnect with my surroundings: includes miniscule antique locket, Roman bird coin, grossular garnet, 19th C micromosaic, Jay feather, cleavers (sticky willy), ammonites, key to a 19th C tea caddy.

@PosyHill1 Thanks for the kind message; I've resolved not to post anything while Twitter is under the current management, but I do look at it regularly. If you do decide to try another account, BlueSky is almost identical in its workings so you don't have to learn a new system.

@GermanderS I enjoy your posts & thanks for the follow. I’m far too lazy to set up any other accounts so hope you’ll keep posting here from time to time.

1/2: This ring was the first thing I spotted when I arrived on the foreshore - it was lying on the surface, as if it had just been lost...

@GermanderS An update would be seriously appreciated for education and curiousity It could be quartz rock crystal but that would be the first time I have seen it cut like that Whatever it is it's beautiful and very unusual and lucky to find it on the surface like that

@GermanderS My opinion is that it could be a diamond although its low grade with inclusions and fractures but still beautifully cut and antique and was worthy of cutting and setting It looks very crisp with no wear on it Try scrubbing the dirt build up at the back

To join in with Dickens #BOTD I present the prize my mother won at age of 13 ninety yrs ago. Over 50 yrs ago our new dog Sam from Battersea (as was Mum) chewed it but she kept it as it obs. meant a lot. I wonder if the #RepairShop could help? @PostedInThePast

@GermanderS I disagree that its modern and IMO you have something good there Massive amount of dirt and discoloration in the back of it plus it looks primitive and worn Looks like a clear colour cut stone with a very deep cut plus it looks like it has a fracture in it Get it checked out

@RLPageJones They're all gorgeous, but lorikeets (and rosellas) are extraordinary for common birds....

Back in a gloomy and damp London. My enduring memory of birding in Australia is how colourful and beautiful the local common birds are. Superb Fairy Wren, Eastern Spinebill, Golden Whistler and Rainbow Lorikeet

1/2: Two years ago I dropped hollyhock seeds into this strip along a bike route in Elephant and Castle, as I was so frustrated each time I cycled along this scrubby patch that was a neglected eyesore. Last year nothing happened. But this year, look what's come up!
