Thank you for the warm-hearted exchange in Bremen, dear @HMVijithaHerath. Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 & 🇩🇪Germany are closely connected by our common commitment to strengthening the international order with the UN 🇺🇳 at its center.

It was a pleasure to meet with Dr. Johann Wadephul, Federal Foreign Minister of Germany and reaffirm the strong and longstanding partnership between our two countries. The meeting with Foreign Minister Wadephul which took place on the sidelines of the 125th Anniversary celebrations of the Asia Pacific Business Association(OAV) Bremen Chapter, focused on further strengthening our evolving bilateral relations, increasing trade and investment, and cooperation in the context of the European Union. I also greatly appreciated the assistance conveyed by Germany in the aftermath of the Cyclone Ditwah. I look forward to building on this engagement to advance our shared priorities and further consolidate Sri Lanka–Germany ties.

I sincerely thank Dr. Andreas Bovenschulte, Mayor of Bremen, for the warm welcome extended to me today at the UNESCO World Heritage listed Bremen City Hall (Bremer Rathaus). We had a cordial discussion on how Bremen, which is a centre of industries including automotive, trading and logistics, could utilise emerging opportunities in Sri Lanka. The potential of increasing collaborations between the two countries in the tourism industry of Sri Lanka with its rising popularity in Germany was also discussed.
