Tesla will stop selling FSD after Feb 14. FSD will only be available as a monthly subscription thereafter.

@JayzTwoCents I looked on Newegg this morning and all the MSRP models were out of stock. Anywhere online that has MSRP stock?

There are 6 different MSRP ($599) models for 9070XT models in stock at Microcenter Tustin, all showing "25+ in stock" - there is absolutely zero reason anyone should buy a 5070 right now. I was worried when AMD said they would have inventory that it would be a fairy tale but hey, this is great news

It was always much bigger than games. This is why when people say I am just complaining about pixels, it shows they haven’t (or won’t) look deeper. But there are people listening, discovering, learning for the first time. This is why I made the choice to fight, and why it was worth “tanking” for the past year and absorbing a lot of damage. We finally have a chance to set things right, and the fight in games is still key to supporting the rest.

@elonmusk Can/will DOGE also be looking to optimize entitlement spending?

@Grummz Been looking forward to Sins 2 for a while. Definitely will pick that one up. Also Satisfactory releases in early Sept. Fantastic factory builder game.

@Grummz I'm just not interested in supporting the giant megagame companies anymore because of the way they behave. I want to buy games made by those who make games because they are awesome, not for the next quarterly earnings report.

Microsoft's acquisition spree since 2019. The spent 68 BILLION for Activision Blizzard and Bethesda for 7.5B. These are just 2 out FORTY studio acquisitions, all to bet on Game pass. Game Pass earns 3.7B a year and growth is flat, not moving. They are in trouble. They have to earn back all these acquisitions. This is why its going to get WORSE for Xbox. (Leaked slides from FTC vs Microsoft revealed average rev of $9.26 per game pass user, and there are 34M subs as of end of 2023 ).

@GamersNexus As much as I dislike consolidation of the industry, Bobby Kotick and the Activision execs were such a cancerous blight that this may improve things. MS seems more willing to develop in all game genres instead of just the massive money-makers.

OK, with Microsoft having bought Activision/Blizzard, what's the general thought now? I guess two topics: 1-ignoring other concerns, will this be good for Blizzard IP/games? 2-what ARE the other concerns and how do you see this play unfolding?

@Grummz This is exactly correct. Good companies have a mission statement for a reason. It is why they exist. The money is secondary to the mission. Money is just the fuel that powers the engine of the company. When the money becomes the end goal, this is what happens.

Many gamers lament that the game industry now is different and worse. But the reality is that the industry has always been 90% money first and design second. Blizzard built and empire BECAUSE it bucked this trend. It was a special thing by definition. Because it went the opposite of conventional game business wisdom: We put the gamer first. Not like the OP dev, who is just another cog in the AAA machine, chasing investors and dollars at the expense of the gamer. Very “mid” thinking. Games can better. Ask yourself “What would OG Blizzard do?”

Modern game dev sensibilities. I’ve seen this attitude a lot. So many devs have forgotten the gamer is why we make games. This dev thread makes it quite clear his master is the investor amd himself, not the game experience for gamers. Narcissistic to the core.

People like this truly have no idea what goes into reviews, especially with real staff (YT isn't just a hobby now) getting paid real wages, using real equipment, real electricity, a real building. We insert a 30-second ad in our 30-minute videos, I guess I'm saying: Deal with it.

hahahahaha. We're happy if AdSense even covers staff wages -- and it often doesn't. To test new CPUs and rerun multiple other CPUs alongside it, for instance, just took 2 of our team members 40hr week each (80), a writer ~40 hrs, editors TBD, and mine still tallying up.

@SooperMexican IMO Shake Shack is better than both and it's not close.

I love Texas. I will probably end up there like all conservative Californians. HOWEVER. I will never concede that whataburger is better than in-n-out, and you can torture me and waterboard me but I will always say TexMex is straight up garbage compared to real Mexican food. 🌯

@Grummz Agreed, it is looking like the 7900XTX may be stronger than the 4080 at a lower price. Could be a disrupter. That said, it didn't stop 4080s from selling out instantly.

That said, if you bought a 4080 without waiting for 7900 benchmarks on Dec 12, you are not making the best decision because you lack all the information.
